Repairing cracked fiberglass hood...
I have a fiberglass cowl induction hood that has been cracked since I got it(used) and needs repair. It has a couple chips the size of a dime or so that go all the way through the gel coat and the fiberglass is visible. What should I fill the chips with?
The corner is cracked and looks like a spider web from all the little cracks in the gel coat. Can I just repair that by sanding it down before repainting or with I need some resins or fiberglass stuff?
Also I would like to reinforce that corner on the underside so it doesn't stress crack again.
A little help please.

hey as far as the chips, you can fill them with any body filler. as far as the stress cracks. If they are just in the gel coat and not in the glass any filler will do. If it is through the glass you can use filler but it might come back down the road. A lot of times you will get spider cracks in the gel coat if it was applied to thick or catalized too hot. Any time you grind through the gel into the glass you will find a lot of pin holes just use any body filler on these also.Any other ?? just let me know.
