shift ****

How do you rmove the leather wraped shift **** from a 5 speed auto?

The front side of the shifter has a slotshaped hole. Inside is a "staple" retainer. Use an awl or knife to carefully pry it out.

Pull the button "cover" straight out.

Underneath is the real button. Notice it has a seperate center section. Push down on the outside section; the inner should stay put, sort of popping out. Turn it then release the button and it should come up all the way along with the spring (if I remember right; I put in a Firebird T-handle before I had the B&M shifter). Then just pull the **** off.

My mistake I meant 4 . Just hit the wrong key by mistake. LOL
