doors re aligned....now having "striker" problems
The guy at the body shop showed me how, even after the doors we realigned, the striker for the doors wasn't thick enought to hold the doors tight enough and as a result the doors are able to bounce up and down a very small distance.
The guy also said there should be plastic bevels or something around the strikers or on the door latches and my car was missing them. (which is why there is space for the door to move a small distance even when closed) Does anyone (with doors in really good condition) have any idea what to look for? I ordered new strikers and they don't have any plastic rings around them or anything so i'm guessing it's my latches that are missing the pieces or the pieces have worn down on.

I know when I bought my car last spring the
guy I got it from said that he had just had
the doors aligned. My doors also rattle up
and down,and don't close tight.I replaced
the striker bolts also, did'nt change anything. After looking at the door lock there
is some plastic that seems to go over or
around the lock.Mine looked kinda chewed up,
so I think that is what was keeping the door
tight on the striker bolt. But I could be
wrong. The car had 40K on it then,so the doors
are in good shape except for the fact they
rattle and don't close tight,hope it does'nt
get any worse.Good luck.

It seems as though it's not the strikers at all, I took a good look at the inside of the latch piece (the part that catches and holds the striker in place) Just like you said, it had a few pieces of plastic on it that seem to be what's left of what was originally there from the factory. The latches are almost $70 a piece from the dealership i go to (and that's with a big discount)I think i'm going t try to make my strikers thicker using some plastic or if all else fails, be ghetto and use black electric tape.

What about the hinges and hinge pins? Are they still tight and in good shape?
Also, if the weather seals are all worn out that possibly could let your door rattle. I think the weather seals apply pressure to a closed door and help it from rattling.
