4th Gen. Seat Prices
I really want to get the new style Firebird front buckets. Does anybody know how much they would cost from a dealer. I suspect it'll be expensive, but how many hundreds do I gotta throw away?

Junkyard it brother! Or call around to some of the sponsors that advertise on some of these web sites for used seats... I just got a complete set for $470... Stay far away from the dealer.

I got a set of black/charcoal cloth seats from a 94 Z for $300! I got a good deal, I'm sure you can find them somewhere for close to that price. Try www.tacreationsusa.com

keep your eye on ebaymotors.com too. There's always all sorts of seats being listed. Don't limit yourself to 4th gen seats. The recaro seats from late model Volkswagens are great, as are the tons of late model Grand Prix leather seats that have been showing up lately.

I don't know if they are or not, but having new brackets made, or at least some adapters made wouldn't be difficult.

The camaro seats may look good, but they aren't comfortable for ****. They are barely better than the thirdgen camaro seats. My friend has a 94Z with cloth and a 99SS with leather, and they both suck. My GTA seats are PHENOMINAL. The new leather Trans Am seats are the same seats with a different headrest. I just got a set of leather articulating seats from a 95 or 96 Trans Am for $410 off of an ebay auction. I haven't installed them yet, but I'm extremely happy with them. BTW, if anybody knows of any yards in their local area that has the charcoal leather 4th gen firebird rear seats please let me know! I need the matching rear seats!!

Hey Jim I dont know if you want to go this route, but you can still order the seat covers from GM new. You would have to put them on yourself and all but if you cant find them you can always go that route.

Scooter, do you know how much GM gets for the covers? My GTA front seats could use a re-skin too.

Here is the quote I got from Dal at Vandevere.com. 16837705 seat cover bottom 219.74 each 16837703 seat cover back 219.74 each. Those are for Ebony (black) leather for a 2000 TA. I am sure the prices are all the same for leather but you will have to find out the numbers for other colors. The only thing you have to get done custom is the headrest, if it needs it.

The 4th gen covers may not work without modification for the upper part because of the different headrest. My GTA seats have 1 2" wide post that extends from the seat back to hold the headrest. My 95 TA seats have 2 small round posts extending, so the top of the seat cover would need to be modified, although I would assume it wouldn't be extremely difficult to have a tailor alter it. Those prices are kinda wicked high though. That would cost $800 just to recover the front seats.

If your looking at junkyards, call Lambert's in Mississippi. Their number is 1-877-728-0409. I'm not going to quote their prices but they put everyone to shame when I bought mine and when they showed up they looked perfect. I also bought a rearend and tranny from them with the same great results.
