slow Power Windows

If my windows go up and down slowly does this mean the motor is bad??
If it is normal can I get a newer motor (out of a newer car and put it in??
Also how hard is it to install a new motor??

More than likely, you simply need to clean and relube the tracks with white grease. Do the power locks at the same time, if you have them. Worked wonders on the 85 IROC.

I was about to ask this same question... some of my buddies car windows go up/down at lighting speed, mine look like I have a gerbil on a wheel rather than a motor... I guess I got to get in there and get cleaning.

My experience with the window motors has been that if they are slow now, they will eventually stop working alltogether. sounds like they are on their way out. Mine are doing the same thing, but I'm just waiting for them to completely die.

I just lubed my rubbers (ooer) on my 87 IROC and it worked wonders. Incidently, so did the sentral locking as it was all gunked up with crap.

Try that before getting replacements and allow time to let the grease do it's stuff.

Remove the arm rest, work a flat-bladed screw driver under the front portion of the door lock and carefully pry upward. Once the lock is removed, turn your attenion to the door handle plate, which has several false torx heads--put a magnet to them or you'll round the plastic out. Once you have the plate off, use a screw driver to pry the door panel's plastic studs from around the outer portion of door frame. The long black plastic piece that runs along the top of the panel is holding the door panel in place at this point. With the window down, push in on the black plastic and pull up.
