Coversion to T-Tops???
I was just wondering how feasible it is to convert a hardtop 89 RS into T-Tops. I am looking to have this done professionally (ie not in my driveway) Anybody ever heard of this happening? What kind of shop would do this?

I've been looking for someone to do this for a LONG time, and noone has surfaced yet. I'm considering giving up and getting a sunroof. I did here of a guy down in Houston who has done it though, look for stuff about a 4thgen interior swap, and there's pictures of his ride (which he cut out the T-tops and turned into a convertible). Maybe he'd be willing to do it again for enough money.

Hey guys haven't you ever seen cars around your town that have T-tops? I mean cars that weren't factory equipped w/ T-tops, like Mustangs, Monte Carlo's, and others. Next time I see one of those cars I'll flag them down and ask them how they did it. I see them all the time when I'm not working. Keep your guys eyes open for this. Later

i think the general idea on this was that it would cost way too much, because the only real way to do it would be to cut the entire roof off a t-top car and swap it with yours. if you want a t-top car, save the money it would cost to do it and buy a t-top car.

Cutting the entire top off of the car is the ticket. I've done it but believe it or not I basicly went the other way. I took a car that some one had put in a power sun roof out of a Caddy in, cut the top off and went back with the top off another car. I didn't use t tops but that would not have made any difference, as long as you had the complete top. Do you have any welding skills and tools. The hardest part is making sure of the front so that you can mount in the windshield without any leaks. But as has been said, unless you do the work yourself the cost would be way too high to pay someone else to do it. Also, I had the other car that donated the top so again no charge there. Just for your information we took the sun roof and mounted it in a 36 Plymonth, once again not worth the effort but still cool since I did it myself.
