Re: 4th Gen stripes????

First came the 4th gen seats in a 3rd gen, then came the console. Someone decided to cut up a dash and door panels and others followed. Most recently, people are adding 4th gen window moldings and carpet to their 3rd gens. Now you want to add 4th gen stripes? What's next? Fourth gen hoods being modified to fit the 3rd gen

If you people want a 4th gen, go buy one!

Glad someone finally said it! I like third gen's, so I bought one. I also like fourth gen's, so I bought one of those two. No parts are getting swapped between the two. I may put some earlier third gen parts on my late third gen, but no swapping parts between generations.

But yeah, I definitely like the way they did the stripes on the 02 35th's. I just don't think they'd look right on a 3rd gen. If you want to be different, perhaps have a flag design custom painted on your car?

Could only work with an SS hood installed... otherwise leave it alone.

Re: 4th Gen stripes????

I think somebody on here has an IROC with a ram air II hood with similarly styled stripes, I think theres pictures in one of the "post your red third gen" threads. Honestly I think they look too busy, but its your car, so do as you will.

Re: 4th Gen stripes????

i just meant the design, not the stripes themselves. the body lines are way too different to even attempt that. like i said, i just meant the design

Re: 4th Gen stripes????

The only thing I like better about the 4th gen was my seats, I had a 2002 SS and man the seats were comfy on long drives, that would be the only thing I would ever add to a 3rd gen. I am getting old and the seats are actually becomming important

Sarcasm here isn't needed. The guy obviously bought a 3rd gen, and wants some 4th gen qualities added to it. Just because you want a few things from one car doesn't mean you should go buy that car...

Usually people want the swaps mentioned as upgrades, while still retaining the handling and style of a 3rd gen. A lot of your posts seem arrogant and sarcastic, and as a mod you should be setting a good example.

I agree, people are emtitled to their own style, if someone wants to chop their car up its their choice. Noone complains when an LSX swap is done, I love these cars but once you own it its yours to do what you want to it.

I "am" trying to set a good example. I am trying to improve the image of the 3rd gen community. All of these 4th gen parts into a 3rd gen, how cheap can I "fix" this and I spray bombed my car and it looks like it just rolled off the factory floor posts, need to go! As a third gen enthusiast site, these kinds of posts are continuing the image that has plagued us for so long. If it was a post here and a post there of people trying different things as a mod or hot rodding, that'd be one thing, but when every other post in certain forums is about someone trying to morph their 3rd gen into a 4th gen and call it "fixing" the car, it gets old. I'm also tired of all of the praise people get when the "fix" looks like crap and everyone is too chicken to say it like it is. Rolled on paint doesn't look good. Fourth gen window sweeps on a 3rd gen don't look good. A 4th gen dash and door panels in a 3rd gen, don't look good. Anybody else want to chime in and agree?

the interior from a thirdgen is perfect nothing needs to be replaced. Perfect as it is.

I'll jump in and vouch for you.

I don't like it when people trying to squeak by on fixes. You get what you pay for! (Usually) Even I've learned that in my few years of experience.

It also needed to be said about the "saying a fix looks good when it looks like crap".

Re: 4th Gen stripes????

Its my car and i will mod it as i please. IF you wanted to get technical, it seems that if someone put different rims on there car, lets say a Z06 or 4th gen SS, you would appose that also?

I was only wanting to be different with something not everyone has.

*oppose

It's no problem that you want your car to be unique. The problem is that EVERYONE wants this and some cars become tasteful and others... not so much. Regardless of what you do to your car, it still lowers the population of unmolested and clean original third gens. Scott just hates to see more and more of these cars being modded and, in some cases, hacked up. It also seems that the new trend is to put 4th gen parts and accessories on these cars and it makes the car seem like a mesh of different Camaro parts.

One guy put 5th gen parts on his 3rd gen:

If you want unique, go to a body shop and get some custom stripes. Not some from a car with completely different body lines. It will be MUCH less hassle than trying to rig up some stripes from a 4th gen. Better yet, show the guy the 4th gen stripes and tell him to spray that style on your car.

Re: 4th Gen stripes????

Ya know, in a wicked mad max sort of way, I kinda like that bare steel 3rd gen creation above. But I'm one who likes 4th gen interiors in thirdgens, so be it. Initially when I swapped my 4th gen dash in, I did it because it was pretty rare, different, and kinda cool. At the same time, my "2 owner" thirdgen's interior was pretty beat, and it was becoming a little more difficult to source parts, at least good parts, at a junk yard...and I was on a high school and college kid budget, which oddly enough was still more than my married with kid budget now.

Re: 4th Gen stripes????

Some 4th gen stuff does look, like the seats and console. I will say I am taking the cheap "fix" and puttin the 4th gen console in mine bc the factory one is cracked and faded and falling apart, I've got blazer seats in it. I'm not completely against puttin 4th gen stuff in, but as far as having to cut and mold something in, yes
