Re: weather stripping
They are not too bad to do, just that replacing the hard top weather stripping is a lot less work.
i've used soffseal before for my 82 hardtop and never had a leak. regreting buying the cheapest set for the 82 t-top tho. just pulled they all off because they were still leaking, but..... found other problems so the weather stripping may have been ok.

I just bought the Soffseal for my t tops. I haven't installed them yet, but a side by side comparison with my mint original weatherstrip on my TTA shows promise. They seem to be almost identical.

Re: weather stripping
I used Soft Seal also on my TA, absolutely no problems whatsoever.Just make sure you take your time and do the preparation right!!!it's all in the prep. And may I make a suggestion!buy the whole complete replacements, T Tops, doors, hatch, inside sweeps with the new plastic sill & outside window sweeps, etc.I got the whole kit from 1A a while back,I don't know if it is still available in a kit.
Sorry, the weatherstripping I used was Metro "Super Soft" not Soft Seal. The results are still the same.

Re: weather stripping
1A sells Metro. I got the Soffseal t top seal set with the seal that goes on the t top itself. It was a 4 piece set that I bought from Summit. I bought a Metro hatch seal which looks really nice. I bought GM outer sweeps because I heard differing opinions of the aftermarket ones. My inner sweeps are still in great shape. I bought a Soffseal cowl seal which I am a bit disappointed with because the clips need to be inserted in the seal.
The door seals are from Fairchild industries. I bought them because they have a plastic insert on the ends where they screw in. I can't give opinions on the stuff yet because my car is still in paint prison.
I still need to buy the drip edge for the t tops. I am debating whether to buy the plastic or rubber ones.
My only recommendation at this point is to stay away from OER. I have heard nothing but bad things about those t top seals.
I think most of the time when t top weatherstrip gets a bad review, they were not installed correctly. Like Mantaguy said - it is all in the prep. Also, be sure to use plenty of adhesive. Here is a good Youtube video from a board member.
