Door is hard to close!!!!!

Ok, my driver side door is a major bitch to close. It will close, but not all the way. You gotta SLAM the hell out of it for it to close right. It has something to do with the wondow, cause if I have the wondow just alittle bit cracked it will close really nicely. But damn, if the wondow is all the way up you better be buff or else you cant close it. Can someone help me out? Thanks alot!

It sounds like your car "seals" up real good. I wish my doors sealed up that tight. I am guessing that it does like when the windows are up and you try to close your rear hatch and you really have to slam it b/c of the vaccum. If the door isn't catching on the weather stripping or the strick plate on the inside of the door then maybe you will have to readjust your window a little bit.

Yep, my doors are the same way. On both sides though. If the windows are down I'll slam the hell out of the door on accident. But if the windows are up, same thing happens. I think it has something to do with T-tops also, Monkie, does yours have T-tops? Once I slammed my friends GTA door shut and it really slammed when I shut it because I was so used to doing it with my car that that's just what I did. But his car didn't have T-tops and told me that I didn't need to slam it. Maybe that's what it is..................

I have a 87 camaro with t-tops and i also have this problem. I thought it was just with t-tops, but i have a friend with the same problem and he doesn't have them. We really started looking into it and we managed to fix his door. There are these stupid grommets on the pins in the hinges that wear out causing the door to slightly lower. The reason it closes good when the window is down is because there is free space for the door to go into position better. The reason the passenger door is usally okay is, because which door gets used more? You should be able to get the grommets from your local gm dealer. Hope this helps.

yea i have t-tops but i don't think it matters. my doors are hard to close when the windows are up but not when they are down or cracked a little. my doors use to sag a little until i replaced the hinge parts and then repositioned them to hang correctly. now that they are hanging right, it creates a tight seal, which makes it harder to close. i noticed when i close the door fast, it will almost never close wihtout force, but if i slow down on the door swing then it closes without problem. just an idea, but i think it's not compressing the air in the cabin as much and giving it time to escape. let me know if anyone else has noticed this...

Wheather stripping gets tougher with age.

You may want to replace it or adjust the glass. There is an article on here describing how to do just that.

I did notice a sweet spot on on my adjustment were if it was off just a little bit, the window would pop away from the seal at 100mph. Too close and you would have to slam it.

Lubricating the latch on the door may help you.
