got my car out today and noticed a lil nest under my car in my subframe didnt think much might have been a old one. Untill i noticed my car cover has been chewed up so now im concerned i dont my cars wiring and int destroyed so what should i do to kill the mice and prevent them from coming back and to remove whats in my car???

the issue is i have dogs and rat poison could be a doggy issue
so plz give me your storage info and tricks plz and thxs

 

Yeah rat poison would be a bad idea, traps with peanut butter on them. they say if you leave the hood open they won't they won't get in the engine. That's all I have!!

 

I hear they don't like scented dryer sheets. Could be something to try.

 

Mothballs and bounce sheets...

If one mouse gets in they will leave a trail marked in there **** for them and other mice to pick up on... (Basically like leavening a trail of bread crumbs) you are basically keeping them at bay with mothballs and the last ditch effort bounce sheets... put mothballs as many as you can on top of each tire and as many as you can possibly stand around the car and space or area that the car is located in you don't have to get to go nuts because the smell is pretty strong... and put bounce sheets in your car NOT mothballs... That should be all you really need, traps with peanut butter just encourage mice especially when food sources run out and there forced to roam they may pick up the smell of peanut butter (if there was one now there are 3... remember they inform others?) if you must use traps don't put anything bigger then a pea size or less helping on leaver... and poison should never even be bought up... if a mouse has already started making a home in your HAVC ducting they will also be storing food in that area as well and when one dies others WILL fallow and you'll wounder why your HAVC system smells and there's always fly's in your car then you'll know why...

 

dryer sheets, I have a cat so that might be an investment lol!

 

I usually scatter a box of softner sheets trough out the inside and under the hood every winter. I put them everywhere. Sometimes I'll find them falling out from somewhere halfway through summer because I stuffed them in and forgot.

 

well the grage has 8 diffrent traps set and about 4 dryer sheets in the body. u also plucked out the nest in my subframe oddly it was mainly straw and some feathers??? no car cover so might not of been mice but i did find some eating nuts under the driver seat so?? lol so ill see what a catch if anything thxs for the info fellas

 

I keep a "Tin Cat" (metal box w/clear lid, mice get in can't get out.) under my car. I use peanut butter as bait. I have to check it fairly frequently, and do something with the ones that aren't dead. 5 gal. pail of water works well.

A few outdoor cats help me quite a bit, but the pieces of S%$T spray my car cover.

Keep an eye on maple keys getting in the engine bay they love those.
