Re: Wrap Around Spoiler Sale
I bumped it to the top again over there. A bunch of TTA guys got in on the last group purchase, and I know that some of them need a new spoiler. I think the shipping price is scaring some of them away. But there is no other alternative if your car is in great shape with a cracked spoiler. Did Hawks give you a time limit to find 10 guys?

So close guys, come on we can do it! Just order it now and hold onto it until you're ready to paint. That's what I'm doing. I won't be painting the car until probably next summer, so I'm just going to hold onto the wing until then.

Re: Wrap Around Spoiler Sale
Hey everyone, I'm also new to TGO after lurking for a few months. Just bought my own 89 Firebird Formula about two weeks ago. I may be in on this deal aswell, but some input would be appreciated.
As some of you may notice, that's a spoiler off of a Grand Am. The previous owner had this installed after the original rubber one started rotting and cracking. The problem I have is that the mounting holes are different for the two spoilers, and the current deck lid piece isn't anywhere close to the original spoiler mounting holes.
So this is where I'd like some input. Should I keep the Grand Am spoiler on it? It doesn't look bad from some angles. What should I do about the deck lid piece? If I go in on this deal, I would want something I can DIY, not something I'd have to take to a fabrication shop. I'm a fan of having original parts, so I'm bothered to a certain degree by the current spoiler. But, I don't know if it bothers me enough to be worth ~$400-500, especially if I have to put a bunch of work into that deck lid piece. For the record, the hatch window still has the clips on the sides from the original spoiler. Thoughts?

your going to need a little bodywork if your going in on the spoiler, not much!!see how much a body shop would charge to paint and install the new one.

Re: Wrap Around Spoiler Sale
I would go with the new spoiler. It looks like you have a car that is in good shape. you would have to reopen the old holes and close up the ones from that spoiler that is on there now. Remember these cars were mass produced and fit is not the same on all.Yes there will be some work and paint but in the long run I think you will be much happyer with the right spoiler so the car looks right.

Sucks for me. I paid full prce for a 4th gen style wing 2 months ago. The quality of the wing is great but I can't stand how it sticks out 2" behind the deck lid. I wish the whole thing could just be moved forward 2".

Re: Wrap Around Spoiler Sale
Still undecided if I want a new spoiler or not. Shipping is going to cost an arm and a leg I'm sure. Is the price negotiable with Hawks at all? I'm looking for a total around $400, and I'm not sure of the actual shipping cost. I'll call tomorrow and find that out.
If I were to have a total cost of $400 total (spoiler + shipping), I would commit to this.

Your shipping is about 120-$130.But if you get in on the sale Hawks would give you a $50.00 discount + a $15.00 boxing charge waiver,so that's $65.00 off,so your shipping would only cost $65-$70.

Re: Wrap Around Spoiler Sale
phoenixfirebird, the price i would estimate to come out to be around 470, so if you dont pay the 70 bucks more or so im afraid im going to have to personally you. lol...I mean think about it, whats 70 bucks more for a spoiler that will make your firebird look complete and amazing! And you do have most likely a couple of weeks to save it up. I dont imagine us getting 5 more in a week. Lol you can take that grand am spoiler off, sell it, and get the 70 bucks therefore making the cost of your new spoiler $400 there you go problem solved

Now on the other hand, if Hawk's were to negotiate a bit more, I would be sufficient with sub-$450. Sure, $65 off a spoiler is a great deal. Regardless, I'm still looking at $100+ in shipping. I could wait until August when the Pontiac Nationals come to Ohio, and try my luck at the swap meet. But think of how much business this deal is giving Hawk's. 10 spoilers at $350 each is $3500. Would it be so much to ask for a slightly bigger discount? It would help all of us out, and Hawk's would get my business aswell.

Hope we get the last 4, by end of May or I have to get mine at full price. End of may doing all prep work for repaint in June.
Come on people get on the deal, just hold on to it till your ready for paint.

Re: Wrap Around Spoiler Sale
Actually I bought one from Hawks when they were here for a car show. Bought the last one they had for $300 unboxed but with clips. Was not bad to clean up and paint. I was not happy with the fit until I got my measuring stick out. Most of our trunk/hatch lid stick out beyond the rear by as much as 1/2 inch. I was able to correct that by finding out it was adjustable if done delicately. Then I find that the spoiler mounting hole was 3/8 inch too far to the front on passenger side. easily corrected.
These things are WAY lighter than the factory rubber spoiler, so if you have really good hatch struts it'll shoot up with the press of a button . Also, anytime someone else is going to closing my hatch, I have to tell them "don't grab it by the spoiler".

Sorry everyone, no go for me. $462 quote, just too much for me. It doesn't look too bad as it is now, and the money could definitely be put to better use. Maybe another time for me, I'm going to get this bird down to 13s first. 15s just won't do it.

I bought one a few years ago and just had it painted and installed a few weeks ago. So far I really like it compared to the factory cracked one and after removing the old one realized how rusted these get on the inside where the hardware is.
It's not a perfect factory fit but considering nothing else is out there it works really well and looks good.

Bump!
Still need a few more people so we can get our wings at a discounted price! Come on, you don't need a show car in order to justify this. Replace your deteriorated factory wing once and never worry about it again.
