Hatch lock cable removal

I'm trying to disconnect the hatch lock cable from the key cylinder. It looks and feels like it should slip off if the plastic outer part is spread but I'm afraid of breaking it if I spread it too far. Am I on the right track and just need to spread and pull a little more or is there a 'trick' to get it off?

Thanks. Got it. Just a little more muscle was enough.
