Whats the best paint out there?
Ive noticed that most cars factory paint today will out last a body shop paint job. A body shop paint job usually begins to peel around edges like where the bumper meets the fender. Also why does a fresh paint job usually begins to crack on the nose of the front bumper? So whats the best paint that is available to the public?

The body shop paint should not be peeling around the edges if scuffed and taken apart be fore the paint job. It will peel around bumpers, moldings, handles, and any thing else left on. The Cracks are probably because they are not using a flex additive to the sealer, and clear.

For the best paint, try pro spray, for the best clear, use SPI universal

I thought flex agents are just for installation and such, And that when the paint cures it makes no difference?

Spies Hecker, AutoColor, DuPont, Sherwin Williams. All good stuff. Flex agent isn't necessary. OEM paint has a completely different type of chemistry.

Flex makes a big difference. I work full time in a body shop have for 5 Years. When we get a car in that was painted without flex on the bumpers the paint will crack and spider cracks will appear. Some times when flex is used we can heat and push the bumpers back out with out any damage to the paint at all.

Wow, five whole years? Since 9 times out of 10 you have no idea who painted the car before you received it, you don't know what was added to the mix. Do some conclusive testing. You'll find it makes no significant difference.

Re: Whats the best paint out there?
Been in the business for over 25 years, flex is only for instalation purposes when you need to push and may bend the part. You may be thinking of the adhesion product such as Bulldog. All the paints and clears are cut with reducers, hardners and other catalysts, this is what helps the paint cure.
If a body shop does not prep a car right it will peel and crack, paint is not a hobby it is a exact science. I used PPG for about 20 years, now I use Dupont I really like it now better than any other brand.
