I have a '92 base model firebird. I just got into a wreck the other night and need a new hood (and a bunch of other stuff ). I've noticed people saying camaro hoods do not fit the firebird, so I'm curious how much leeway I have in picking out a new hood. Am I stuck with a hood from a base '82-'92 firebird that looks the same as my old one? Or will other generations/models fit? I've always liked the older hoods with the shaker and the bird decal. Mostly, I just want to put the bird on it. It has to look way cooler than my boyfriend's mustang! Its my first car and my first big project with it, so any comments or suggestions welcome!!

You can only use a third gen hood... as for using the second gen one just look at the cars, third gen hoods aren't perfectly rectangular shaped, more t shaped for pop up lights. No other gens will work. But nobody ever said you'd have to use a base model hood, or that you couldn't go aftermarket. heck I work with a bozo who's got an aftermarket shaker scoop hood on his v6 92 bird...

you can use any hood from a 82-92 firebird, thats 3 different styles of stock hoods, or about 10 aftermarket glass ones. thats it.
