HOK Hot pink Pearl

Hi everyone,
I saw a thread about a 2 tone blk/pink camaro on here and I was wondering if anyone had ever used the House of Color Hot pink Pearl.
My reason for asking is i would like to know what color is it best sprayed over, as in silver, white, etc.
I am not sure if i want to do the pink on top with black stripes, then a silver pin strip and black on the bottom, or just the black/silver/pink. I still have a while before she is ready for paint (new motor going in) but i want to get some options before ordering paint. Thanks kara

Re: HOK Hot pink Pearl

Base it over a gray primer and you'll be fine. The PBC's do not necessarily need a metallic base underneath.

Re: HOK Hot pink Pearl

I was debating over Hot pink Pearl and **** star Pink lol. I like the depth of the paint vs just a "barbi doll" pink that looks flat ( and my meaning of flat is no depth) I have picked out 3 HOK colors for the car, the silver will be the pinstripe in between the black and pink

Re: HOK Hot pink Pearl

That is what I am looking for, a deep pink vs a light pink, so I guess grey primer is what to go with. Thank you

Re: HOK Hot pink Pearl

When you say pearl are you talking about a dry pearl mixed in the clear or the HOK Pearl paint? HOK actually sells a KD-3000 color check panel, you spray your base coat over it (KD-3000 comes in 6 colors) and then pick which one you like best. It lets you see your base over all 6, Hok is a great brand. There is only one draw back to HOK, you MUST use all HOK products from the epoxy primmer to the clear.

The kandy colors are very cool, if you want to do stripes you can ghost them in by laying the differant colors (black, white or silver) under your base, this will give the base differant hughes where the color is say black or silver. We have done this effect for SS stripes on a 69 Chevelle, we used black on the entire car then taped of the SS stripes and did silver there. when we laid down the candy red the stripes were a ghost type effect, and once cleared you never know they were there (car has a even layer, you can not feel the stripes like if you added them later)

Remember if you do use a Kandy from HOK once you finish the last coat of Kandy you must lay your clear right on top before it drys. If you let the Kandy dry you have to wait 12 hours and re-scuff it with a red pad, or you will have shrinkage problems. Good luck and post up some pics as you go.

Nah. I've painted it over different brands of primers and cleared it with different types of clears. All works just lavly.

This is mostly for the UK series.

Re: HOK Hot pink Pearl

"When you say pearl are you talking about a dry pearl mixed in the clear or the HOK Pearl paint?"

Im talking about The PBC 39? I think thats the number its the HOK pre mixed not the dry baggie stuff you put in the clear. I myself am not going to paint it LOL ( I can't even paint my own damn toe nails right :P ) My husband is going to, he has done numerous paint jobs but never with this type of paint, and he wasn't any help when I asked what base to use lol. I stick to what I know and that is engines, and other assembly stuff.. The car left today to our friends shop ( that was an ordeal, had to push the heavy pig on to the trailer because the winch that we use for the race car is rated for only 3000lb and did not like the camaro) still a few months away from paint, taking out the interior tomorrow so the sub frame connectors can get welded in, engine thrown in the garbage, and trans getting a stall... Maybe I should start a build thread lol.
I was wondering, in the description of the paint it says you can use either enamel or lacquer clear over it. I love how lacquer shines, I am not worried about the paint warranty, Just wondering if you could truly use the two different kinds together.
