the ultimate transmaro

Re: the ultimate transmaro
i did the swap mainly because my camaro was getting to be in rough shape underneith, i looked long and hard for a camaro in perfect shape and couldnt find anything. i was just looking for a rolling chasis for my motor and tranny. always liked the camaro and never cared for the t/a. this one came up for sale a few houses down from me with no motor or tranny but immaculate underneith. so i google transmaros and never saw any where someone has totally transformed one, lots of front clip swaps but no full deal. just wanted to take on the challange i guess. im not a body man just like broaden my horizons. i also did the t56 swap while i was building it, it was an auto car. i like to say i built this and actually mean it where most say they built it but all they did was put on a few parts. i wouldnt recomend it to anyone easily discouraged as it was alot of work but pretty neat to see it all come together. i cought alot of heat in a previous post for mentioning ruining a perfectly good t/a so now i wanna see the response. thanks for looking

I think most people (including me) will respect your bodywork skills. Sure the resale value of the car is now out of the window but it looks like you've done a good job and a clean third gen will be the end result
On the flipside, part of me is thinking blasphemy! But only a very small part
You keeping the T/A interior (I think most agree that these are nicer than the Camaro) or going all the way?

Well....at least you made it out of an 82-84 and not an 85-92.
(now accepting "I personally hate the 91-92 T/A ground effects" responses).

thanks for not bashing too much haha, yes i am keeping the t/a interior minus the seats, mine say camaro, i find it nicer also, i took the dash bag to a seemstress who embroidered iroc z on it instead of trans am. and as faras the resale goes i wouldnt say its out the window, it might be worth more to someone who always wanted the nice interior of a t/a in a camaro, they also now have a ws6 packege camaro haha

I agree with AmorgetRS completly.
It's not actually a new thing. From what I've heard there have been a few 1st gen firebirds that have changed into camaros too. Just curios tho, what will your response be should you get pulled over for having plates registered for a firebird on a camaro?

Re: the ultimate transmaro
certainly isnt a new thing for sure but as far as the first gens you just had to shave the vents on the rear quarter to make the difference. as far as getting pulled over i went through this with the dmv just asking questions and there is nothin illegal about doing body work so as long as the vin hasnt been tampered with i should be fine, might be a liitle more hasle but i honestly doubt that alot of cops around here will notice the difference. i asked the dmv if i would be better of taking the windshield out and replacing the vin for the camaro one and she said certainly not that would be tampering and i could get in more trouble.

resale value being shot isnt really a big deal IMO. it looks like you did it right. the vin # wont match is what you mean?

I would like to see the look on peoples faces when you tell them it is a Firebird, not a Camaro. And for the people who know them will be thrown by the interior being completely wrong for a Camaro, not to mention the Second digit in the VIN denotes Pontiac....

Re: the ultimate transmaro
That's kind of weird because for years when I was looking, there'd be five good camaros for every firebird around here.

yes i will like to see the look too, they have actually just started a firebird, camaro club around here to so if there are any enthusiasts they they will pick up on it. they will either be impressed or disgusted, haha. the camaro firebird ratio around here is totally opposite of what it should be.
