GTA Spoiler Replacement or Repair?

GTA Spoiler Replacement or Repair?
My 1988 GTA has been in a warehouse for 4 or 5 years. It is a beautiful white all original car with 48K original miles.
I hadn't been to the car in almost two years. This weekend I brought the car home.
I noticed that the real spoiler now has a split in it. The split appears to be from a rusting mounting bolt from the deck. The split is at the foot of the spoiler on the passenger side above the tail lamp. Can this be repaired? Are replacement spoilers available? If they are available, can someone suggest where I would begin my search for a replacement please? Is the spoiler difficult to replace?
Thank you!

Re: GTA Spoiler Replacement or Repair?
It can be repaired with 3M flexible parts repair material but It most likely won't last due to the rusty metal inside.
Best bet is to get a new fiberglass replacement from a vender on this site.
Once you get it, set it in the sun and heat 4 a week or longer if you can.
Test fit/mount it to your car, I used the lil factory clips that hold the legs up each side of the window*. Each car and each spoiler is a lil diff and it may require some small tweeks b4 you have it painted..
Most people want to paint it first then try an put it on. Then they complain that its not a 100% perfect bolt on.
*i drilled 2holes(4 each clip) in the bottom of the spoiler where the factory clips hook in along the window.
use a file to connect holes an make them square/rectangle looking 4 the factory plastic square push pin things on the window. 3 per side

I appreciate the insight you provided for the installation. Sounds like first hand experience speaking.
I'll let you know how I make out.

Re: GTA Spoiler Replacement or Repair?
GTAfan, i have one of the HAWKS wings as well and recently got mine mounted and so ar im pleased. i mounted mine by mounting it on the hatch then marking how far back the slots go and then running screws in and making adjs so it would fit to the glass cleanly. i didnt let the screw run all the way to the back of the slot, i set it half way for movement purposes.
its nice to hit the button and the hatch pops up on its own and stays.
T TOP, how did you re-use your clips in the wing or were you referring to the slots on the glass?
this is mine just after we mounted it.

Re: GTA Spoiler Replacement or Repair?
Its kind of hard 4 me to explain what i did. Basicly made the bottom of the fiberglass spoiler look/funtion like the rectangle receiver slots on the bottom of the rubber spoiler.
I measured the where the holes and plastic pins go on the car then transfered that to the spoiler. Ill be doing another hopefully b4 the end of the year and may just take some pictures this time..

Re: GTA Spoiler Replacement or Repair?
Man, this must be the week for Spoiler clips,I went to a GM dealer they had NONE,but the parts guy printed out a sheet that list some other dealers that have them.I bought 8 from one dealer that is all they had left. But these Dealers are all over the country, some have one, some have two so on,and so on,some are out of business.I really recommend that you go to a dealer and ask for the list, these clips are really getting hard to find. the part no.is 20556524 they are listed as a fastener.
PS if hawks sells the fiberglass replacement wouldn't you think they would have the clips.

Re: GTA Spoiler Replacement or Repair?
the HAWKS wing dosent have a place for the clips, just the recess for the tab on the glass to rest in. to make the HAWKS wing work you use screws carefully measured out and slip them into the slots on the glass and it works great, atlest mine has in this manner.
my friend grew up around the used car and body biz and was VERY impressed with the design of the wing and its fitment.

Re: GTA Spoiler Replacement or Repair?
Yea,I did that to mine,(with the screws) also, but i guess I didn't have the right size or something,I was always pushing mine back in to the slots. So I was going to fix this thing the right way,so I went to the dealer, that's how I got the list.On this list it has 19 dealers across the country on this and they only have 66 clips left on GM inventory. There has to be somebody else out their that makes these things.
