prepping a plastic bumper cover
Hey guys, I'm prepping a plastic bumper cover for paint and had a couple questions. The PO of this bumper just sprayed primer all over it on top of the paint that was there. In doing this he also painted over the pin-striping. My first question is how do I remove the pinstriping and second what's the best way to prep this bumper cover for paint? I've been told that 320 grit on a DA is the norm but is there any other way like with a bit for a drill or perhaps by hand? As tedious as that would be. Also what kind of primer do I need to use?Let me know what you guys think. Thanks a bunch.

Re: prepping a plastic bumper cover
the pinstripes come off with acetone or a heat gun, a scraper and a lot of elbow grease. As far as prep work, from what you describe I would sand as much of that paint off as I could and as long as there are no deep gouges, etc., spray it with a flexible primer first (polyflex) then paint, etc. This is what I'll be doing soon. Ordered all my stuff from TCPGLOBAL. You can do it by hand but its gonna take you awhile.
