What adhesive to use putting in t tops
I am just starting to put new t top seals in ,and was seeing whats the best adhesive to use to glue them in with. The 3M black weather strip stuff looks like the main stuff to use in the channels but what do you use in the t bar and in the ends under the t bar , black silicone , or i read in one thread to use the black weatherstrip chalk under the t bar? I also was wondering what to use on the side , the front and back of the t tops roof, the 3 m or the chalk. Thanks

I was looking would window weld be better than the black silicone for under the t bar, where the holes and the factory foam pad, and then use the rope seal stuff for under the t bar where it meets the body on the ends, and would you put the 3m stuff just down the one channel down the sides or all over the center section of the channels , and where is the water drain out at . Thanks

I was going to use OER brand that Super Chevy use in there article but after looking at them i am going to take them back and see if another box looks better, these look like they have pinches from the dies on them and cracks already in the rubber around some of the corners .

There are two channels for the weatherstripping. The lower channel seems to hold the weatherstripping in place. I used the 3M adhesive in all of the lower channels. I also used the 3M adhesive in the upper channel, but wasn't happy with the results, so I cleaned it up and used the rope caulk on the upper channel of the roof section only.
Take the rope caulk, roll it out so it's thinner, but try to keep it consistent in shape. Pull the weatherstripping away from the body of the car and the center bar, lay the rope caulk in and press the weatherstripping in to seal. The lower channel doesn't do anything for keeping water out, but the upper channel does. Be sure to get the weatherstripping sealed to the body and center bar. Also, don't forget to build the bridge between the roof and the A/B pillars with the rope caulk. If you forget that area, you will get leaks.
My opinion is that the 3M adhesive is just to messy and runny. If it were a heavier consistency, it might be ok, but I didn't like the mess it was making.
