stripper

best way to strip engine bay?.. thinking aircraft stripper.. but then i had a guy suggest oven cleaner.. never heard of this has anyone else??

I've never heard of using oven cleaner... I would use a stripper (If you do, then get the rustoleum stuff. Most others are much weaker and do not work as well.) Make sure that the area is well ventilated and as warm as you can make it. (Above 75 degrees.) Good luck!

you dont necessarily have to strip it. Sand/scuffy it well enough and paint will stick better then straight metal

i think the oven cleaner cleans and etches the old paint so once you rinse it off and dry it you can paint it
