Cure for arm rests coming off the doors!
I had my passenger armrest bolts strip out the holes in the mounting plate on the door that they attach too- the lower two bolts. The plate has a slot in it that the bolts screw into, but that strips easily since it is relatively soft steel.
The hole was toward the rear of the slot so, I came up with an easy fix.
I took the plates off both doors and swapped them over. Using 1/4 inch bolts instead of those damn peel rivets, I reattached the brackets. Now the holes in each plate are toward the FRONT of the slots and the armrest bolts have a fresh virgin slot to screw into. Super tight and sturdy like new. I also put some strips of inner tube between the plates and the door panels to take care of any vibration or mystery rattles. I HATE all the little squeaks and rattles in these cars and make it my mission in life to eliminate as many as possible!
Hope that helps someone...
