Re: vote/comment on my two tone ideas
Do a mock up, of #1 and #4 combined.
Where the entire bottom of the car is the gray, and the entire top is the black.
Like this: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/sign...-two-tone.html
That's my vote when it comes to two tone.

Yeah, that's a nice two tone. the main problem is since I have a base model RS hood, I like having something on the hood that breaks up the bordom.
Everytime I see my photo #1, that's the main thing I don't like about it

Re: vote/comment on my two tone ideas
Oh I know that, but I'm hesitant to paint factory louvers because the set I'm getting is so nice as is. I may do it after all if I can't stand the matte finish. I can't remember if I've ever seen louvers in bright, shiny base coat clear coat. It may look strange

Re: vote/comment on my two tone ideas
That last picture you posted is the paint job I have on my 89 with a gold pinstripe separating the colors. I like it! Hey I wanted to ask you a question? Did you add the iroc front grill? Or was that factory? I really like it and would like it on my car. Where would you buy a grill like that? thanks
No, I bought it off of ebay. Thirdgen ranch has them new, but I've seen them for about half of this used

Re: vote/comment on my two tone ideas
I would have to vote #3 or #5 with the black and red stripe over the ground effects. #5 might be the best choice with the rear window louvers which I really like. I would paint the louvers in the same black so as to minimize the effect of the louvers with the rest. Definately paint the mirrors black.

I really don't want to paint the factory louvers, but if I use the paint scheme in the third picture. I could use them as is.
Interesting development.

Re: vote/comment on my two tone ideas
Thank you Mark, Its funny how critical we are of our own cars. I think your is really sweet looking also. Today I got a call from my Son, which really has not paid much attention to my car and the work i have done on it. He said Mom I was driving in my work truck with buddy, and He said to his buddy check out that ride..NICE lol
Then he said he noticed my window down and saw me and said> that's my Moms car..lol He said it really looks sharp driving down the street. He did like my Iroc I had 15 years ago. But it was the hottest car ever.

Re: vote/comment on my two tone ideas
I like 5 the best but I wouldn't do the red or black stripe at the bottom. Just leave it gray, that would look pretty clean. The stripes will probably chip fast down that low I would think but that's just me. The louvers I would go gloss just to blend in.

Ok so I guess what I like is number 4 pretty much but I didn't like the red pin stripes but you said you like the red so change my vote to 4 then, just without the red ha ha.

Re: vote/comment on my two tone ideas
i agree,,i like my car plain...don't like the hood scoops on my iroc...that's why i installed a plain RS hood.,,i like the car just plain and with nice paint and wheels...i never liked the back glass loovers people installed or the iroc stickers all over the body and stripes...makes the car look cheesy..a vette or even ferrari or porsche have no getto chessy stickers on them!

Re: vote/comment on my two tone ideas
since I scored the louvers, I'm decided to go with all Grey, slightly beefier heritage stripes, with a small red pinstrips above the rockers
I appreciate you all giving me input with this. I love talking design art, and maybe this will give somebody else inspiration and ideas

Re: vote/comment on my two tone ideas
What color red is your car - it looks like the bright red? i was thinking about painting mine that color. do you have any larger pictures so i could look at it better? also, on the body side moldings to prevent the door dings, are they painted to match or did they come that color?
thank you

I actually like the way it looks now, but if I had to choose one, I'd go with #5.

Re: vote/comment on my two tone ideas
I took off the louvers today as the first step to get it ready to paint, and I thought... DANG.. if I leave these off I could do my two tone paint job!
I'm still considering it
