Front bumper cover removal
Hello, my bumper cover is cracked from a hit and run this last winter and I'm trying to take it off to repair it and paint it. Well anyway I know where all of the bolts are but I can't tell how to get the top studs around the headlight brackets out. Do I just have to take the headlight brackets out with the cover? Edit: This is on my 91 RS if it matters

Re: Front bumper cover removal
It is easier to take the bracket out with the cover.....there are 2 screws under the headlights that attach the headlight bracket to the cover on the underside of the headlight pockets. They are a MAJOR PITA to remove/attach seperately

Re: Front bumper cover removal
most of your nuts will be hooked to the fenders there should be about five per side and there there 6 clips on the bottom also there are two 10 mm bolt in the center to the core support which will need to be removed to take out the head lamps with the bumper i just did this today took me like 30 mins to remove the front bumper
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly, as required.
- Remove bumper filler panel.
- Remove the fascia center bracket at the front end panel reinforcement.
- Disconnect all electrical equipment, such as headlamps, turn signals, horns, fog lamps, etc.
- Raise and safely support the vehicle.
- Remove the front bumper fascia extension.
- Remove the bolts from the bumper impact bar and radiator lower air baffle, if equipped.
- Remove the push-on retainers attaching the bumper fascia to the bumper impact bar.
- Lower the vehicle and remove the bolts attaching the outer brackets to the front end inner structure.
- With the aid of an assistant, remove the fascia carefully as not to scratch or damage the assembly.

Ok, so bringing this thread back up... How the ^&*(@$ do you get the nuts off (and back again) on the upper studs on the inside of the fender to the front fascia..?? Do you have to remove the inner fender liners to get at them? The driver's side is a real pain....
Thanks....
Thanks....

YEP.......take the fender liners out and get some long/short extensions with a 10mm deep socket and go at it. The drivers side is a bit more of a PITA cause the horns are in the way......I think there are 5 nuts on each side

Re: Front bumper cover removal
if youre flexable and take the battery/cruise module out of the way, you can get to the top studs from the top, but youll bend in some uncomfortable and unusual ways and end up with some nice marks on your arms if you dont wear long sleeves.
ill never do it again. its way easier to take the fender liners out and go from the bottom.

Ok, thanks.. I am about to pull the A arms out, change A arm bushings, sway bar bushings/links, coil springs, tie rods etc so that would be good time to just go ahead pull the liners and change the nose... Go a new nose since mine is split, just have to strip it and paint it...

Re: Front bumper cover removal
Going to start mine this coming week.. Have to move some stuff out of my garage into storage to make room first.. My garage already has my 67 SS/RS under resto in it so have to make more room to get the 92 in there... 92 is my daily driver so it has been needing a little fix up lately...
