Defroster repair

The newer hatch I'm putting has some defroster issues.

The lines running across ygr glass are broken in some areas, which I can fix with the repair paint. My bigger issue is the main braided cable has been detached from the glass in 2 contact points. I'm sure I can use some rear view mirror adhesive, but I'm not sure if there is a better/correct solution.
