3pc spoiler is a 3pc spoiler as far as attaching to the car. .
The only 'not work' part would be because it doesn't have a/the 3rd brake light (for legality sake) as far as I know.
A search would also produce posts from a few who have bought/installed the hawks 3pc.

Re: 89 5inch spoiler mod?
I believe the mounting holes line up right. People have had problems with actually lining up the 3 pieces correctly. but not many factory ones are lined up right either.

A 5" one would probably look awesome on these cars.

Im getting the spoiler for my 91 soon. Should look good with the 4 inch cowl. Then I plan on notching the center section out of the spoiler

My 5 inch spoiler from Hawks fit great, I just had to open the holes just slightly. That picture on their site is a old pic of my car, the spoiler is well worth the money and really gives a racey look.

Re: 89 5inch spoiler mod?
The Hawk's spoiler seems to be luck of the draw as to whether it will fit right or be total warped garbage out of the box. I remember a guy here who got one and the middle piece was actually curved, like the top point of the spoiler was curved as if the spoiler was grabbed on both ends and twisted 30 degrees before it cured. But, other guys have no problems.

That dry break inlet was from Allstar racing, with a lower tension spring.

That's some seriously cool stuff.
I'm in Phoenix twice a year, I have a daughter in El Mirage, and Grandkids in Mesa.
I'll try to look you up when I'm heading out that way.

Re: 89 5inch spoiler mod?
I modded a Richardson Spoiler off a Hendricks prototype car.
It's 8 inches as it is, I trimmed off 2.5 inches.
It sits about 5 inches above my original spoiler, I had my original spoiler filled on the backside to alleviate the arc shape which would have cracked as soon as I torqued down the bolts on the back.
I added the spiltter supports on the top, to keep the hatch back as a streetable feature, easy to open.
I have since changed out the large hex head bolst to flat heads on the back and have ordered some decaling to clean up the look from the rear, it will enhance it some.
I had a wing, seriously effective, it just looked out of place.
