Re: vertical doors
Personally I think they make sense, if you can do it right, our cars have REALLY long doors, and people are ignorant/stupid and insist on parking entirely too close and then you have to squeeze out because of some idiot, and I'm avg build btw. I'm not gonna lie, when if its not a nice car I will open my door till its touching the other one, gently of course, though I've considered doing it forcibly to both nice and crappy cars alike, people need to pay more attention, just because their fricking door is only 2 ft long and can open easily doesn't mean my broadside of a carrier door can open far enough for me to get out as comfortably as these cars allow. /end rant
The main thing is you have to have enough hinge points and do it in a way that it won't compromise the structural integrity in that area, also our doors are really heavy which makes finding a suitable kit hard if memory serves.

Re: vertical doors
yes i bought the "universal" kit from the most reputable company. verticledoors.com
Its a joke. I spent i think $700-900 on it, (forgot exactly).. And there is nothing universal about it whatsoever.. I ruined a door trying to put those on. by removing the brackets for the door hinge and welding in a support beam. There is no where and way possible to make those work without hitting the fenders. (at least for our cars).
Its a complete joke, and they wouldnt return them, finally sold the kit to a kid with a ***** honda for $300. Still lost a substantial amount and a driver side door trying to make these work.
I would like to add that i am a certified body tech and work at an auto body shop. I know what i am doing. As well as the others in the shop that agreed the same way with me.
Its been done maybe once or twice before. But with a homemade kit, (requiring super strong shocks and cutting up inner support of the fender and heavily modifying the doors, ( fiberglass door skins, and most likely mechanical windows) to lose the weight of the very long and heavey door so it does not bend the hinge or kill the shocks supporting it from gravity.
Not worth it.. I learned the hard and expensive way.
But I am glad. It was a phase i went through, and wanting that lamborghini look. But really that only belongs to Lamborghini. Nothing else. Trying to copy designs from other cars ( lambo doors, z3 fenders, altezza taillights from lexus, ferrari side mirrors) whatever it is.. belongs to those cars.

Re: vertical doors
there are no bolt ons made for our cars, just the 4th gen.. because the doors are light, there fiberglass.
The weld in type are the ones i got that are universal.. only option.. and they dont work.
again, its stupid.. and copying designs
