Hatch glass alignment This doesn't seem right...
I noticed this only because my friend pointed this out on his Firebird after bolting his hatch on and trying to a line it. I had recently put my glass on (no deck lid) i got all the gaps perfect. on the passenger side the glass sits in more, on the drivers side the glass is nearly flush with the C-piller i think this is more of a height difference but i cant remember, the gaps are equal around the entire hatch glass but the parts of molded bend of the glass as you can see. im starting to wounder if it was the way they molded the glass one bends in more? not sure but like i said i got the glass to body lines perfect same for my buddy's bird, having the same problems.

Those things never fit perfect. Looks like it needs to be slid over to the passenger side. Could also be damage from a rear end collision. Quarters on these cars tend to "blow out" on top. Is the w-strip in? Can't tell in pic.

It seems like every camaro's hatch in the world always doesn't seem right, mine didn't seem right so i adjusted it a little bit, i know mine wasn't right htough because the deck lid rubbed on the car and caused it to rust, so i HAD to fix it.

Could the glass be non oem and not manufactured correctly?

Re: Hatch glass alignment This doesn't seem right...
I'll take a stab at this.
This looks like one of the hatch struts is pulling or pushing your rear glass to cause the lopsided look. Just an idea that one of the two struts is weaker than the other.
Does the rear deck lid sit flush and level as you close and lock it down?

No struts, no deck lid... I have the opportunity of full alignment starting with the glass... no dice.

Its actually easy to align those, back / fort, left / right ....i did it, just take the plastic pannel off ..underside top, then u see the 4 bolts, losen them up and slide it over...then u need to align the latch hook and your good to go.
i think to slide left or right, its the ones that bolt thru the glass...can't remember !

I looked at my 86 IROC and it lines up all around, but my friends 88 GTA is just like yours. I am guessing that when you shim the bolts at the top it throws it all gaps out of alignment.

Re: Hatch glass alignment This doesn't seem right...
The glass is perfect at the top were it bolts (glass to body line) left and right side (glass to rear quarter panel)... but not the bend in the glass it self the areas in green are perfect the left and right side of glass dead on not even 1/8" off but when it gets to the bent part of the glass that's a different story

I guess try some shims and see what you get. I really hope you get it to work out.

Re: Hatch glass alignment This doesn't seem right...
if i move the glass right to correct this problem ... then body lines are open up more on the left and close more on the right... right now both sides are even

Re: Hatch glass alignment This doesn't seem right...
this is what iv been saying the whole time.... if i move the glass right... to make the bends in the glass even then it throws the other lines completely off... i still don't think your understand the problem the entire glass to body lines are perfect right now... the bends in the glass are not... correcting the bend lines will throw all of the other body lines off...

Re: Hatch glass alignment This doesn't seem right...
i know exactly what hes talking about, both my 89 and 83 have never been wrecked and the glass on both sits a bit funny. on my 89 the top pass side corner is a tad out and no matter how much i shift its out elsewhere.
the way i set my glass is pull the struts and the hatch motor, this way there are no other forces affecting the adj and this is what the OP did. i'v heard many a bodyman say third gen QC wasnt the greatest even stright off the line. i got my glass good enough and im just going to live with it.
