Need to put a 90 RS on a diet

This car is going to be a strip only car next year.the class im going to run is an 8.5 tire heads up class requires full interior with no metal showing. I have already removed all of the heat and air assemble, radio, console, rear seats, jack etc. Does any one know what the front rear bumper assamblies and door bars weighs in our cars? The car is 3550 with me in it and I need to get as close to 3000 as I can. Please dont tell me to a search been there already, and that doesnt help me and just make you look like a jerk. Thanks to those that want to help.

Really depends what options the car has.

Remove the front bumper reinforcement and if the car has the power hatch pulldown, pull that out too.

You could also always op for a smaller fuel tank like put in a 5 gallon as apposed to the stock 15.5 gallon tank or you could just go with a 1/4 tank before each race. Also you could remove the whole exhaust system and drop the passanger seat and go for a lighter driver seat too. You could also pull out the dash pad and op for some lighter wheels.

Re: Need to put a 90 RS on a diet

Here is what I got done today. Removed the ground effects rear spoiler, hatch pull down latch, wipers and washer tank, door bars and electric locks. Grand total 63.5 lbs. Next week front and rear bumpers and fab up something for the front to stay in shape. I do have a 5 gal cell, and everything has been removed from under the dash. Rules say that I have to have 2 seats and full interior.

So when you say you removed the radio did you also take out all the speakers and the rear seatbelt assemblies? If you have t-tops (which I doubt) then you could remove them while you race. What transmission do you have in it? Because I was reading earlier where the T-5 tranny weighs 50 pounds less than a 700R4. But one person mentioned that it ended up weighing a total of 120 pounds less than the 700R4 so you could look into that also. I think I heard fourth gen seats weigh less also. You could also get one of those fiberglass hoods from an 82 or 83 camaro too. There is alot of things to do it just take some thinking. With the fiberglass hood I heard that it weighs 50ish pounds less than the stock steel hood.

Radio and speakers were removed when the 10 pt rollcage went in. I am running a 400 turbo with a trans brake. 383 single 4 Nx stage 6 plate with nitrous about 900 hp 9 in with 4.56 gears. I made the mounts lower control, torque arm cross member and panhard bar. 26/8.5 hooisers slicks. We will need to run 5.70 - 6.00 in the 1/8. The trick to this class is the 8.5 wide tires and no nitrous controllers.
