i picked up a 91-92 wrap around type spoiler for my 92, and im curios about the clips that are supposed to go on the hatch glass trim. Can you buy these somewhere, or do i have to cut them off another hatch and "attach" them somehow? are the clips from the 85-90 wrap spoiler the same?

I would rather not swap the entire hatch glass, and i assume you can't weld the clips on without destroying the glass?

The 85-90 clips are completley diffrent from the 91-92 clips. I have never seen anyone sell the 91-92 clips seperate. Personally I would swap the entire hatch. The holes that are drilled into the decklid are also in different locations from the 85-90 and the 91-92 spoilers

 

ahh, poo. I really want to avoid swapping the hatch. Maybe i can find a 91-92 in a junkyard and hack the clips off the hatch and use them somehow.

no, just posted last yesterday and havent even began to worry about this anymore. the car is parked for the winter and i have plenty of time to figure something out. Might end up just making something myself.

 

All you need is the glass trim and your good to go, i had some hatch glasses laying around taking up space i busted them up put them in a bin out for the trash they went one of which you are looking for. hatchs just don't have any resale even at a free price. one of them had the clips as far as i can remember the clips are part of the trim peace and are not removable. I could possibly get that whole trim peace for you by spring . . .


edit: the one i busted up was probably the off a 88 or 89 gta... not sure what the differences of the 91 - 92 other then the spoilers look nicer

 

the clips on the 91-92 spoilers are part of the spoiler i have one left on mine but the other one is no longer there unfortunatly.

 

since you seem to be doing the same swap i was wondering if your spoiler came with some sort of gasket between the spoiler and body. mine did not but it does not seem to sit flat on the deck lid.

 

no gasket was on it, but there was pieces of some kind of gasket, i was going to make something. It does sit flat though. You have to drill the holes int eh deck lid the same size as the threaded inserts as they need to recess into the steel a little. I think its 1 on each side that is like this

 

no they are not. the spoiler are rectangular holes on the arms, and the clips go in them somehow.
