What Size Air Compressor for Painting/Sandblasting?

I need to know what size of air compressor! It's all so damn confusing I've searched and searched and no one on any forum I've been on can really answer this question in plain english, I need to know as much as an experienced body specialist would know. What size, what CFM is there a specific brand that you use and what size do YOU use? This is frustrating me to no end!!!!

Re: What Size Air Compressor for Painting/Sandblasting?

I have a 15 cfm peerless compressor, with a free air delivery of 320 liters per minute. While you could use something smaller, you dont want to be running out of air while spraying, and using air tools.I guess it comes back to buying the appropriate tool for the job,as sometimes the small compressors just dont cut it.Just my opinion,I hope it helps you.Heres a link that is useful.

My 6.5hp 60gal upright won't keep up with my Harbor Freight blaster. I wait for it to catch up then proceed. It takes longer but isn't as harsh on the equipment.

Re: What Size Air Compressor for Painting/Sandblasting?

I'm just going to be using a 22 gallon harbor freight compressor with the hvlp compressor but being since I'm going to spray the car in sections, ( fenders, hood, bumpers, etc...) I'll be fine. I have a small gravity feed sandblaster even though it's not the best thing in the world It's worked pretty good for me on small stuff.
