Power Doors to Standard
Recently I stumbled onto a deal for two Power Doors off of a 1985 Berlinetta for $50 (Pair). If you can believe it, i don't want power doors. I would rather not deal with motor problems and more wiring. I want my car to have a SIMPLE harness. My Plan is to strip the doors down to the shell and rebuild them completely. Some parts i'll reuse, others i'll get from the junkyard, and still others i will purchase NEW. I have gotten some Manual Regulators off of a 1984 and all of the Seals will be new, of course. I also intend to replace the hinges.
Here are my Questions:
Since i had to Drill out the Rivets to replace the Power Regulators with Manual ones, Do i have to buy a special rivet gun and reinstall 1/4 Rivets, or can i just use some 1/4-20 Bolts with lock washers and Blue Locktite?
Do i install the Window Sweeper/Outer Seal before or after i install the Window/Regulator? I'm concerned that if i install it before, i'll have difficulty installing the window/regulator and may even damage the new seal ($94/pair).
Should i just collect all of the parts and let the body man assemble everything AFTER the car is painted?

Those windows are a PITA. If it's at a body shop I'd let them do it. You may want to give them a hand as well. It's a two man job for sure. Also they should have the rivets and gun to install them. Bolts and nuts will work but you need to use nylon lock nuts. I believe you can set the window in the door then put in the sweep. Hold window up to install regulator then attach it to window.

Well, right now, the doors are off the car. I have the Driver's door laying on the floor. It's a bare shell.
