Electric hood?
any way i can make my hood open with a switch? like winding down a window? my hood opens backwards so it would have to follow the motion of the hinges

Re: Electric hood?
dont know what you would use to open the catch, but if you could find linear actuators to replace the hood struts, that would open the hood.

Re: Electric hood?
But you could mount the linear actuators, the same way you would mount a pair of struts.

Re: Electric hood?
The way it opens, the fron of the hood opens about 10 inches first, then the whole thing moves foward toward the bumper. its not a straight foward move

Re: Electric hood?
Yeah, I remember how those open. My Grandmother had a car like what your hood came off of.
It would take more than just 1 motor & actuator switches to do what your asking.

Re: Electric hood?
Sounds like it would not be easy to me - maybe not hard for a fabricator that does that sort of thing all the time (like one of Foose's guys), but I wouldn't know where to begin - I'm not much of a fabber (never had access to welders and such). I sure would like to play with such, but my spare change all goes into my 'Maro right now to get it where I want. If it's no special hood, but just a plain stock hood, you could play around and see what you come up with - stock hoods abound everywhere 'cause folks always want blister/louver hoods, or cowls or something. I've had my stock hood in the backyard for 2+ years now - come get it and you can have it to 'practice on'.

Re: Electric hood?
