Maacos top paint job and code ?'s
I have a 86 Iroc thats yellow ( or yellow-gold is the paint code) Im going to take the lights, all the weatherstipping, door handles/locks and have it repainted. There is very minimal body work that is going to be done. I called up maaco and they want $999 for 2 coats of base and 3 of clear. I want to do the same color, yellow gold, but wanted to have some metallic put in it. They wont do it unless I have a paint code. Has anyone had maacos top paint job? how was it? Anyone know of a paint code thats close to the same color with metallic in it?

They "can" do a good job but most of the times its the wait that kills the deal.
usually a 6month plus waiting list.

I had Maaco paint my 87 IROC-Z. They did such a good job that when time comes to paint my 79 Z28 I'm going to have the same location do it even though I live about 4 hours. However the car is near there (buddy is keeping it for me till I can get it running since he has room to work) and it's also near family as well so it's not like I'm never up there. Can't help you on the paint code but I can tell you that they did an excellent job on my 87.

I believe I heard on another thread here that they are individually owned, so really your experience is going to be different from anyone else's.
Your best bet would be to go there and look at the results of their work. Also see if you can find some reviews on Google for that specific shop. Sometimes people will leave reviews on certain locations.
As for your paint code, I found this on Google:

thanks for the info. I think im going to go to a professional body shop instead of maaco. I talked to a few and the points they made where awesome, kinda opened my eyes alot.

Someone who worked at Maaco posted on here one time that the only difference between their different levels of paint jobs were the warranty but the paint and process was the exact same. So if anyone is looking at Maaco keep that in mind

Re: Maacos top paint job and code ?'s
I had them do 3 cars. All 3 were destined to be wrecked doing stunts, so they didn't have to look great. I should mention all 3 cars were clean, rust free, and original. I just had to make them all look the same. All 3 came out way better than I expected. Was it a show car finish? No. But it wasn't far off from some lower end OEM either (like seen on Cavaliers)
The job was done with 2 cars, so one survived and I still own it. It has been 6 years now and there are maybe 5 rust spots coming through where there was a nick in the stock paint and they did not get all the rust out and it bubbled the paint. I could actually have them fixed and probably get another couple years out of it. Being garaged helps for sure, but the job was not bad at all.
