Body guys need opion on hood
Well after some time of searching for a formula hood i finally found one, but now i am not sure if i just wasted my money. Hoping someone can help me out, I know the pictures are not easy to see but can you tell me if this hood was a lost cause and waste of money. It has a depression on the powerbulge and quite a few dents..possibly some hail damage can this be fixed and can it look good?
Thanks

Doesn't look all that bad...How are your body work skills, or were you going to hire it done??? A good body man can fix it right up.

Its not all that complicated just strip it to bare metal, do a skim coat of filler, block sand, primer, paint, clear, wet sand, and buff to shine.
If you do it your self it can be a great learning project. Most body shops will want to blend the color with the fenders, bumper, and doors this can get costly.

You will need to pop the larger dents out first or you will wind up over coating with filler. The hood is a focal point on a car. Its opened and closed often it may start to spider-crack eventually and you don't want that to happen on a hood.
Pop the dents out and use the least amount of filler as possible.

Re: Body guys need opion on hood
The pushed in area looks something that might need some good attention but other spots look good.
Like others said, pop them out as much as you can to use the least amount of filler, and stay away from Bondo. I had similar dents and used a gel hammer my father uses for his carpet work and worked perfectly. It all depends if you want to spend the time on it.
How much did you spend on it? I would assume around $35-$60.

You're good to go, bro. Don't let a few pings deter you. And I agree, this would be a good learning project if you decided you wanted to learn.

Re: Body guys need opion on hood
I wish i was cheap, i spent $125 on it, i have been searching for one for awhile and jumped on this one when i found it. The plastic piece on the powerbulge was there and not damaged. It was quite dirty do i didnt see all the damage on it, as someone said before the only spot that really worries me is the powerbulge dent, it pops in and out kinda flimsy.
Thanks for all the advice!
