Re: Fixing rust:: How to??::

is not a close enough pic but general fix is grind it down lil bit then us wire brush wheel on pitted areas then spray some rust mort (thats what i use and works better than other brands) then fiberglass over it, plastic filler primer and paint...

or cut and weld new piece of metal

again this is generic procedure if you need step by step u need to give more detail of what ur dealing with

Re: Fixing rust:: How to??::

be very careful removing your upper t-top seals and ceter section but the back of your t-tops is showing some rust that may be further into that area than you think. our cars are prone to leaks, my 88 has a hole in the floor I didn't catch in time from the tops leaking. after further inspection my center section was rusted out pretty bad redering it useless, yet I did not have any rust showing topside.

Re: Fixing rust:: How to??::

Thats a close up of all the rust on that one area. i also included one on the driver side between the door. i dont think the rust is that bad(i hope) . i think a sand down protective rust coat then primer paint clear coat can help. any and all feedback would be taken into consideration.

Re: Fixing rust:: How to??::

If those are the only spots you have then I would get myself a little cheap sandblast gun from harbor freight(http://www.harborfreight.com/21-oz-h...gun-95793.html). Spot blast it. Once the metal is clean I would spray epoxy primer(http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com...202_0256-2.jpg) over it to seal the metal. Use any filler over the epoxy (if you have to use filler(http://www.google.com/products?hl=en...ed=0CCgQzAMwAA) and then sand with 220 grit. Once you have that nice and smooth move on to 320 grit and then finish with 400 grit (you can skip 400grit if you want). Once you're done sanding use a tack rag to clean of the area (dust and such) and then paint away.

Edit: I should add that if you don't want to go the spot blaster route, you can just sand down the paint and rust with 80 grit on a DA sander. Just make sure that you let the sander do the work and not push too hard on it or you run the risk of thinning out the metal, especially around edges.

Re: Fixing rust:: How to??::

You should be able to get it from your dealership. Or else take your paint code to any auto body supply store and they can mix it up for you. You an get it in quarts or spray cans (although I wouldn't recommend spray cans)

I just re-read what i wrote up top. I forgot to mention one step for you. If you do end up using filler, make sure you have the epoxy on first. Once you are done with all your sanding, seal everything with one more coat of epoxy. If you use the epoxy I gave you the link to, then you can spray your paint directly on top of it without any further sanding if you do it within 7 days. Otherwise you'll have to scuff it with red scotchbrite.
