so i bought it and it had a little trouble opening but we could get it every now an then when we needed to, but winter came so i couldnt really do much with all the snow i got. so i went to open it this week and we cant get it to pop, well i took off the splash gaurd and apparently the hood release cable snapped or came off so i cant open her up.

can any one help with a tip or some thing, is there another way to pop the hood cause i need to put the battery in to continue the work i was doing to it.

or am i gonna have to look for a new hood an chop this one off(hope not)

 

If you can get to what is left of the cable (is any is comng out of the hinge) grab ahold of it with a pair of pliers and pull. Otherwise you should be able to pop the hood open with a screw driver if you put it in between the bumper and hood and push to the right. Its been a long time since ive had to do this on a car so my tatics may be a lilttle rusty.

 

ill try that in the morning but my uncle said i couldnt open the hood with a screw driver because off a safety latch or something

 

your best bet is to try the pliers first, the hinge is only spring operated so you should be able to get it to pop up with a screw driver if you can disengage the saftey latch.

 

Just crawl under the nose of the car, look up at the latch, use a screwdriver, or your finger to move the lever that has the end of the cable on it towards the drivers side. It will pop.

 

That happens to me every once in a while, I drive a '91 Formula, and live in MN, so I know snow. xD. I just stick my fingers under and lift while someone holds the release open. But the other advice you've gotten is pretty solid.

 

well after taking another look at it, its not the cable but the latch and its assembly itself that seems to be giving me the problems. i was told i may have to take the metal peice between the bumper and radiator that the latchs hooks into off
