Air compressor choice.
I am looking for a 60 gallon compressor. Tractor Supply has 2 compressors in stock that are worth mentioning. !st is a Campbell Hausfeld 60 gallon with a 3.2 hp cast iron motor (VT6275) and the 2nd is an Ingersoll Rand (SS3L3) with a 3 hp motor. The Campbell is 10.2 @ 90 psi and the Ingersoll is 11.3 @ 90 psi. The price is $399 for the Campbell and $624 for the Ingersoll.... big difference! I've read the Ingersoll pump is made in India and not sure about the Campbell. Sanders and die grinders are real airhogs while hvlp guns aren't that bad. Ok... so what's the better deal?

Re: Air compressor choice.
My dad bought my Campbell Hausfeld compressor over 17 years ago and its still going strong and my campbell says made in usa(but its pretty old so i dont know if they still are) so in my opinion i would go with the campbell

I bought the IR SS3L3 right before X-mas. Got it on sale for $549.00, free shipping and a $50 gift card from Northern Tool. I couldn't be happier.
The adage goes "buy as much compressor as you can afford" so if the CH is all you can do, go with it. But don't be afraid of the IR... it's a pretty awesome piece of equipment in my book.

1st. The IR compressor is completely rebuildable and as long as you take care of it (change the oil) it will last forever. I don't know which ones (model) you are looking at but ask the salesman if the IR has an the valves in the head or the block. The design and tolerances for the IR will be much better that the CH.
2nd. The CH will work just fine but understand they save money by putting cheaper psi switches and regulators on their machines. Still a good product for what you get but a good pressure relief control box will run you about 170. And if you want or need to ever rebuild the pump it will be more money than it is worth.
3rd. Look at the electric motors on them. See who makes them. I can't remember since I have done most of my work on quincy's
Finally, buy what you can afford but you will get what you pay for. Have fixed alot of CH compressors but very few IR.
