My passenger door wont open!
Both handles were broken off when i got it, and the guy said he opened it by the door hanger attached to rod that lead back to the latch. I could never open it, i got new handles for indoor and out, but the door wont open so i can put them on. All the levers seem to be working, we spent the past 2 days trying to open it. But nothin, any ideas?

other than that you can call a lock smith and they might be able to reach the inside handle... local ones usually charge 30 -40 dollars. or you could get them to make you a key for the trunk and get in trough there. keys are usually about 60.

Re: My passenger door wont open!
only your passenger door won't open?...or are you locked out of the car? The responses to your question are confusing. Don't know how breaking a window will open a door with broken off handles? I took apart some doors recently and snapped a few pics. The top rod runs from the handle to the latch. The end of that rod should be directly behind the interior door handle. Pushing that rod towards the front of your car should release the latch, but if you've tried that already with no luck, I have no clue. If the rod is still attached to the latch, maybe the latch itself is the problem. Should be easy to get to with the door panel off, but I've never tried removing door panels from the interior with the door shut. Might prove to be a major hassel in such a confined space, I really don't know. Not sure, to what degree your problem is, but hopefully the pic helps out a little. good luck.

Its just the passenger door. But thanks. Ill try it again, i believe it may be the latch itself though. Think a body shop could open it?

I've actually got this same problem with my driver side door. Both the interior and the exterior door handles have broken. I can still get in through the passenger door, but I need to figure out a way to get the door open. I plan on taking the door off and doing everything i need to do in there at once - replace the sagging door hinges, the power window motor, the weather stripping, etc. I just can't figure out how to get the door open yet. I suppose what I need to do is try and get the interior door panel off from the inside while the door is still closed, that way I can get to linkages and latches from to (hopefully!) open the latch and get the door open.
Have you had any luck with getting your door open? If so, do you have any insight on how to go about it?

If you can get inside the car just remove the plastic panel that the inside door handle is mounted with/to. It just a few allen /hex heads. When removed it exposes the rod that attaches to the latch and handle.
You don't have to remove the entire door panel to get to the rod and if it became disconnected from the handle and fell down inside the door behind the door panel just fish it out so you can
reach it and pull it to unlatch the door.
Be sure the door is unlocked with the unlock button also or you won't be able to pull the rod to release the door latch.

Re: My passenger door wont open!
Ah! Thank you kindly. I tried fiddling with the trim panel around the interior door handle, and i was able to get the screws out of it no problem, along with the armrest. I was having some trouble getting the plastic door lock lever off of the linkage that it's attached to, and i didn't want to risk forcing it just yet. So I wasn't able to get the whole plastic trim plate off yet. I'll give it another go when I've got some more light and see if I'm able to get the trim plate off.
Thanks for the info. I'll letchya know how it works out!

Re: My passenger door wont open!
I tried finding the post with the instructions to remove the door panel and handle/lock button but no dice !
I figured somebody would chime in and post a link to it..........but again no dice!
TO remove the door lock button.........EASY!
Go to the front of the button ....The humped end towards the front of the door.
The button should be in the UNLOCKED position!
Take a small flat screwdriver and slide it in FRONT of the lock button and the door handle plate. Pry out gently and the front of the button will come out of position toward you. The rear of the button will remain in place !!!!!!
DO NOT pry on the REAR of the button!
Now pull the button FORWARD and it will pull off the lock rod...............
Handle cover plate can now be manuvered around door handle and removed exposing the door latch rods.

Re: My passenger door wont open!
Besides he isnt locked out of his car.
If the inner door panel is inplace its gonna be pretty hard removing it to acces any linkage. If thats not an option...
There is another way...maybe, but its kinda involved & not 100% sure to work. However i would remove the 6x9 speaker & the foam enclosure behind it.If you look into the void, towards the door. You'll see the striker & the big nut holding it on.There is a metal bracket welded to the door jamb that keeps the nut from falling down if the striker is removed the outside. The bracket is pretty flimsy & easy to bend & perhaps allowing you to remove the nut.Thereby allowing you to open the door with the striker still attached to the latch.
Ive never done this, but have theorized it.If ever i were in your predicament.Like i said though Im not 100% sure it'll work.
