Third Gen Popularity

Are the third gens becoming popular with some folks as a fad like the "G" bodys ? I was lisening to some guys around a shop saying thats what was going on. The F bodies were set up with big power, body kits and maybe 18s. Not like that is so rare but the G bodies (cutles, monte's) were a little extreme "DONK" with the suspention mods and 24s.

Re: Third Gen Popularity

The thing ive noticed about third gens is that you see so many that look like **** and are not taken care of or you cant believe are still on the road. Then when you see one in good shape that is taken care of it makes it look that much more awesome. TPI Terrors third gen is one of the nicest ive seen around So Cal in quite a while.

Re: Third Gen Popularity

I see 3G's all the time, they are almost all beaters or obviously neglected project cars. I have seen some nice ones at the anual all chevy show and some at the track. Saw 3 at a different show decked out in 20's and garish paint though it was nice to see them in good shape.

If the 3rd gens become popular you will see prices rise across the board and many abominations roaming the roads but the aftermarket will likely respond so it's a trade off.

One of the things i love about my Mazda is that it's completely off the radar to most people, to the extent that most folks dont know what it is! The aftermarket is rather minute as a side effect but I get to do my thing with the car in relative peace and I have my pick of the cars that pop up in the junk yards

Tracking down good 3rd gen pieces is a bit futile sometimes, most of what I want is either junk on every other car I find or has been stripped already.

Re: Third Gen Popularity

yeah that is one thing that sucks everyone is redoing a monte or camaro so parts cars are raped at all the yards. i have the most luck when i pretty much camp on craigslist and just keep looking for weeks then i usually catch something when it first gets on there and get first dibs on it.

How is it not relevant? The op was about the precieved increase in the 3rd gens popularity, all the posts thusfar have been relevant to that subject.

montess, the ironic thing is I recently tried to sell a bunch of 3rd gen related items and the only real response I got was an offer to buy a single TPI runner for $25 instead of the whole thing for just $50

Re: Third Gen Popularity

ls,
i feel you on lack of efficient post at times
but i find it a bit irritating when "good" (questions or help from other users) threads are sent down or even to a next page because of irrelevant threads like this.
maybe in history/resto but not in body

with all of these responses i am contributing to something i dislike so peace.
