Re: t-top and lambo doors?
it would, the hinge location is still on the pillar, but the direction of movement is different. a reason i wouldn't do it though is these camaro doors, and very long and very heavy. i would think you'd wear out parts easily, and if you have no struts, a falling door like ours could really hurt someone.

Re: t-top and lambo doors?
Lambo doors are completely possible and if you do a search here, you'll see its already been done once or twice. Eventually in the future I plan on doing it. The reason it is possible is because most lambo kits require you to open the door OUT a few inches just like normal movement, then it goes up. It also has to do this to clear the door jamb. I'm not worried about the gas shocks. Most kits (the good ones anyway) come with 2 gas shocks PER door, I think each shock supports like 500lb so you should be good. If you do do this, you're gonna have to remove the fender and reinforce the inner fender. Maybe weld some thicker steel plates (like other 3rdgen guys have done) so you can weld the shock mounts to...

Always thought the idea could be kinda cool, or maybe suicide doors. But would probably never do it

Re: t-top and lambo doors?
I know that we all have our preferences, likes, and dislikes and I mean no disrespect to anyone. However, I would not prefer lambo doors. It seems like a costly mod that takes away from the value of the car. I must admit though that I am old school. My car is going to be as close to original as I can get it. And I can understand how that would seem totally boring to some others on here so I guess as the saying goes "To each his own". Are the doors secure? Do they rattle(even more than these doors already do) or is it a tight fit?

Re: t-top and lambo doors?
how is it a useless mod? The main reason I would do it is because our doors are long as hell, maybe in some other parts of the country, there is plenty of space between parked cars at restaurants and stores, but not here. I don't know if its the establishment owners trying to squeeze as many parking spots in one lot, but having lambo style doors would facilitate the entry and exit of the car. If it wasn't my daily driver, I could endure it, but right now that would be a convenience more than at style mod...

Re: t-top and lambo doors?
I could see your reasoning for practicality sake when parking and such. I just personally think its a fad that is dying. In a few years what will a car with lambos be worth? Will it help or hurt the car's value. No one really knows for sure. That may not even be your concern. It certainly would make it easier to get out when someone is very close to you.

resale is the LAST thing on my mind when ever i do anything to my car. why would you drop money into personalizing your own car with the intent of selling it? in a few years what will a third gen be worth period?
as far as secure. doors fit just the same as with stock hinges. rattles? maybe... cant tell with 10 other sources of rattles at the moment. after subframe connectors are installed i can give you a better answer on that.
i dont believe this would be considered a "costly" mod either.
mine were <500 installed. compare that to a new set of wheels/tires, or a fiberglass hood, or a new paint job... fits right in with other major appearance mods.

Lambo picture...
As for all the guys busting on him... WHO CARES!?
It's not your car. I say go for it.
I was kicking around the idea as well...

Re: t-top and lambo doors?
If YOU want to do it, do it. I have already bought my hinges and will begin installing them as soon as I can. I have t-tops and do not see an issue with this mod. It seems to me that the body stands on its own. Its the mounting area of the hinges that are the issue, and you can improve on that. You can do it!

Re: t-top and lambo doors?
OP I personally think that any car that does not have an upper window frame like Vettes ,Maros, T/As & Fieros look good with them...It would be on my list if we had bolt-on hinges. My Bro had a car with them, just do yourself a favor and install grab straps.
