lower door hinge bushing and pin question
I have brand new door pin and bushings ready to go in to my camaro. My question is that i test fit the bushings on the pin and they are not really a tight fit. Is there supposed to be a bit of play to them? I thought the idea was to get rid of the play lol. Also do I need to yank the door to do this or can i do it with the door still on?

That's exactly how the bushing and pins are... or, are you really trying to repair your sloppy or sagging hinges? If so, the only way to go about that is with the rebuild kits sold by TDS on this site.

Re: lower door hinge bushing and pin question
My door doesnt sag...yet. The cars only got 72k miles on it. The door was getting hung up when it gets opened all the way and then you would have to fight it to get it to close. Then it would make a terrible bang noise as it passed over that area. I oiled the living hell out of it and it no longer does that and doesnt get hung up anymore but i fear the damage has been done. Im repainting it as well so i figure why not.

Re: lower door hinge bushing and pin question
From your description, the hinges are on borrowed time. Most likely the upper and lower bushings are wearing out. This usually shows up in the lower and like some of us, we try replacing the pin and bushing and or the body side hinge as well. Been there.
Since you're going to re-spray anyway, might consider adding the hinge rebuild kit to the plan. That will take care of the sag problem once and for all. And yes, you'll have to pull the door to install the kit, it's a weekend job.

Re: lower door hinge bushing and pin question
Yea they might be but now thats itsoiled it opens smoothly and closes effortlessly. I think for now im just going to replace the lower pin (did i mention the car has only 72k) I just was making sure if the bushing and pin are supposed to be a bit loose. They look like the right parts but didnt fit together as tight as i would have thought.
