Hawks spoiler issues
I just received my hawks 5 in. spoiler this week and tried putting it on today, the the threads on the end pieces are off a good amount and the center wing will fit fine if I drill two more holes in the center of the hatch. What should I do? should I try to fix the end pieces? Or should i talk to Mr. Bruce and send the two end pieces back and send him my stock end pieces as a template? I need help!
Thanks in advance, Dan
I'll have pics posted soon!

Re: Hawks spoiler issues
lol thats exactly what i'm debating right now, I'm pretty good with fiberglass and I think if i cut all the threads off and set the spoiler end piece on the car where i want it and mark all the holes from the inside and fiberglass some new bolts in, I think it will be just fine but idk.

Re: Hawks spoiler issues
the hawks spoiler is designed for 82-86 and 91-92 camaros the side bolts dont work with the cars that had a brake light in the spoiler from the factory. You will need to drill new holes to make it fit. I promise man u will love it tho. Here is a pic of mine.

O ok, I didn't know that the 87-90 spoiler holes were different from the others. I'll make it work because I love this spoiler too, I just finally saved the money to get one so I will make it work one way or another!

Yea, its not really a big deal or nothing. And im like you. It almost hurt sending the money for the spoiler but the day it came in i about died. I pulled it out of the box and was just amazed lol. Mine needs a little more work but it still fit pretty good. I like it tho. Post some pics when you get them Good luck -Matt

Re: Hawks spoiler issues
yeah I'm itchin to put it on, but it'll look like crap for a while until I get it painted because it's been painted before and they didnt pull the spoiler off when they painted it but oh well. I want to get it painted torch red but we'll see! here's a pic of the whole car, i'm slowly getting it to the way I want it to look. It's just kinda hard when you got a brand new car payment, 2 other cars, and a bike. but I cant really complain I make good money for being 20 yrs old and I stay at the parents house.

yeah I'm saving up for a paint job then I might be saving for a while so I can do an ls1/t-56 swap, I know its gonna be ALOT of money but I think it'll be fun. Plus I'll hopefully be working up to my permanent job on base and be making a good deal of cash.

Re: Hawks spoiler issues
You will need to drill new holes for it. I had to do this for my 87 IROCZ. But I did swap out the hatch for one of a 91 so it would bolt up to that and I would still have the third brake light. Adam :-)

Re: Hawks spoiler issues
seems like urs lined up nicely. Mine are pretty good, there are some small gaps that exsist but they will all fit differently.

Re: Hawks spoiler issues
Ok I finally got my spoiler on today, looks awesome! I'll have to do some work to it so that it lines up nice. Its looks charlie31603's spoiler in the pics where the center spoiler peice does not line up with the end pieces. How did you guys fix that? did you adjust the hatch forward?

Re: Hawks spoiler issues
yea u can move the deck lid its self up some to make it fit better. I have to move mine to the left a TINY TINY bit like a 1/16th of an inch so that the gaps are even but they still look good.

Re: Hawks spoiler issues
yeah i'll post some pics tomorrow, the deck lid needs to be moved toward the drivers side about an 1/8th inch and it needs to be moved forward to line up with the end pieces.

Re: Hawks spoiler issues
You should pretty much never expect a body panel, or part to fit without some kind of alignment or reworking. That's just the nature of the beast unless that part was specifically built for that specific vehicle.
Every car is going to be slightly out of spec with another.
Once you re-drill your spoiler holes, make sure you get someone to weld up your old holes so you don't have issues with water getting in there.
