Roof Drip rails
My car is a hard top and has the black drip rails on it. During the painting process the body shop removed them to do a better job. I know they use double sided tape on the small tabs, but their was also a piece of what looked like weatherstrip between the drip rail and the roof. It was only abut 16 inches long and was located on the drip rail next to the roof directly over the window. Does anyone know what this strip is made of? Is it just plain foam weatherstriping? It is old and dried out.
It did not continue down the roof pillar towards the bottom of the windshild.
Any input would be appreciated
Mike

I've replaced some of that type stuff with the foam tape you put on the bottom of a truck canopy. It was probably in an area that was a little rough or where 2 panels come together. An area that GM new would need a little extra seal. Canopy tape is sticky on 1 side and squishes down pretty well. If thats to thick you could use some strip caulk.

It may, but I am hoping the weather stripping will keep the water out.
I am still several months away from having car completed to give a definite answer. Just hanging the door and fenders back on now.

Re: Roof Drip rails
the drip rails are just to divert the water from coming he in the car from dripping off the roof. Water won't come in if the window is up. To me it looks alot cleaner without it, & you don't have to worry about dirt build up. If water stays in their, your roof will start to rust as mines did.

Re: Roof Drip rails
I left mine on when I got my car painted because I didn't want to damage them taking them off since you there extremely hard to find, but I really wish I would have removed them
