Firebird fiberglass hood choices.....
I see only SIX possible options.....
1. Stock flat
2. Cowl (2",3",6", 8"!)
3. "Twin Turbo" style
4. RAI
5. RAII
6. 4th gen Camaro SS
I haven't seen a fiberglass Formula one (but it may exist). I know there WAS a "double Formula" style (?IMSA? the raised section covered both sides, not just the drivers side) which may or may not still exist.
Am I missing any? Is nobody willing to step up & offer us anymore? I'd LOVE to get a Jongbloed style one, but...
1. Nobody makes it
2. Even if G&T...errrr....North Country Fiberglass....Started making it like they said A YEAR AGO...I wouldn't trust them with my $.
I'd hafta get it IN MY HANDS, then pay them for it.
I want a 'glass hood, but the options are so limited.
Now...If anybody wanted a Jongbloed hood, I do know of a REPUTABLE company willing to make the molds & start producing them, but.....
"Hi, they can be made, but it would have to be done on a minimum group purchase of 10 hoods. In short, to answer your question they can be made to be available, but we do not have them in stock"
Any nine people with me that want one?

Re: Firebird fiberglass hood choices.....
My biggest objection to the RAII hods, is that they only have 2 nostrils. I'd like to see all 4 like.....
I've thought about asking the makers of this hood, on my old '97 Tahoe, to make one for my GTA.

I could ask them about a FULL 'glass hood, or me buying a 'glass hood somewhere else & them grafting their top skin on.

I guess that kinda the "Twin Turbo" hood, but without the scoops.
Honestly? I'd prefer to forget about those on ANY car.

I believe the 82-83 Formula hood were fiberglass or aluminum or something. Correct me if i'm wrong.

I agree that I'd like to see more hood options. In the future I would like to get into fiberglass work, the possibilities will be endless!

Re: Firebird fiberglass hood choices.....
There is a company in Pennsylvania that offers the IMSA type hood you mentioned. They were down here in NC last April for Auto Fair and had one for sale. I'd have bought it if the $$$ was available. I've got a brochure around here somewhere, let me find it and I'll post the info.
Never mind, found it. Company's name is Fiber Concepts, 1520 Campus Drive, Unit B, Warminster, PA 18974. 800-672-1238 or 215-674-8990

Re: Firebird fiberglass hood choices.....
The question of the existence of a fiberglass Formula hood came up in a topic last year. I didn't think anybody made one, but someone posted a link to one:
http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/site.htm
Go to "Catalog," then scroll way down to the "Pontiac" section, then "82-92 Firebird & Trans Am," and they're listed about a third of the way down the page.
It's offered two different ways, listed as "82-92 Formula Pin On Hood," and "82-92 Formula Bolt On Hood."
I've never seen one, and I'm not familiar with VFN products, so I can't comment on the quality. And, unfortunately, I didn't see any pix anywhere on the site.
