MAKING THE FACTORY BLISTERS FIT A FLAT HOOD!
Hey everyone, I just know theres got to be a way to make the 91-92 z28 blisters sit flush on a rs hood. I've got those pieces of junk that Hawks sells and Im not satisfied with them . I also don't want to hunt down a factory z28/iroc hood(last resort). I'm determined to make the blisters work. Is there anyone here with any info or suggestions? I know I'm not the only one here thats interested in this. Thanks in advace, this place is great!

umm maybe you could build them up so that they fit on the hood with bondo but then there is more work to tapper them out. I dont think that you will make it look right in the end but thats one idea. -Matt

there is just no way you can put hood blisters on a rs hood... you have to find a hood for the hood blisters or even an iroc hood would work

Re: MAKING THE FACTORY BLISTERS FIT A FLAT HOOD!
im pretty sure the hood with the blister and the iroc louvered hood are the same so i would imagine that there are some mounting brackets or something that would need to be removed for a flat hood

well, not exactly what i wanted to hear. Can anyone point me in the right direction to finding a hood somewhat locally in DFW for them? I've been to all the junkyards around here.

couldnt you just cut all that bracing out so they sit flush on the hood?
then use some sort of glue to fix them.

What sort of problem are you having with the ones from Hawks? I had them on my old RS, and they were fine.

I'm not sure on if it would work but maybe you can look into putting some rivets through it to hold them down then put some filler over to cover the rivets. Just trowing an idea to look at though

Umm, the correct '85-'92 IROC/Z28 hood is pretty easy to come by. Look around on the classifieds here or other sites, craigslist, ebay, etc. They are also available new through any aftermarket body parts supply. Hacking up a set of hard-to-find factory blisters and glueing them to a flat RS hood would be rediculous.
And yes, they do fit the IROC hood too (same hood)
