Window Malfuntion

Hey, I have a slight problem.
My 91 base Firebird is having a window malfunction. Its the old school crank kind and when i go to crank to lower or raise the window, I just hear a popping or clicking each time as if the gear is not making contact. The window won't raise or lower because of this.
How would I go about fixing that?
Also, when I went to remove the paneling that encases the door, I'm having problems removing the pin that keeps the the window crank in place. I cant seem to find it. I have removed the paneling entirely leaving the crank in place, and upon closer observation, it doesn't seem to have a pin. i have the tools and everything but just don't see the pin holding it in.
I've checked the threads and didn't find anything that really answers my question. But if someone could give me a step by step guide specifically on how to fix the window, I would really appreciate it.

Re: Window Malfuntion

there is a clip shaped kind of like this: C
It is between the crank handle and the door panel, and you have to spread it open and pop it off, then the crank handle will pull straight off.

Re: Window Malfuntion

the "C" clip greg mentioned is very common on older cars . go to a parts store , tell them what you want to do , they should be able to show you the right tool . NAPA stores have them , others also . anyway its not a big deal once you see & understand how they work . a thin blade screwdriver can work also , once you see how it works . simple really , good luck .

And then when you get it all apart you will probably find that your window regulator (the part where the handle goes, with the long arm that makes the window go up and down) is bad. I can't imagine that it would just be a stripped out handle but you might get lucky.
