Bodywork + everything else (Pictures + Problems)

I have a lot of work to do to this car. When I got it, it was fine. I need to replace the headlights, headlight enclosure, bumper, bumper cover, driver fender. I also have to figure out why my car is running really rich. I just ordered a CTS and a ALDL cable. Other things I have to do is eventually put a 350 in, t5 transmission, and a 4th gen rear. I am making this thread for myself to see how it goes.

-Fender ()
-Headlight Enclosure ()
-Bumper ()
-Bumper Cover ()
-Hood () If it doesn't get ran over....

Here are some pictures below showing what I have to do and where I am at.

The fender that needs to be replaced

Parking light wires that need to be fixed somehow..

The bumper cover and chin spoiler that are going on my car. It needs to be repaired before I put it on.

Closer view

Hood that got plowed

Rust where the battery sits that needs to be taken care of

You should be able to buy a new battery tray, either e-bay, hawks thirdgen, classic industries, year one,
You may want to look at I think It was year one I was looking at, but one of those companies had a lot of plugs, you may beable to find a pigtail, to replace your light.

What year is your car?
Is it TBI or TPI?
Is your engine light on?
Mine was also rich, the O2 wasn't plugged in, I also replaced the CTS. It's good now. Just need to get the VSS hooked up.
O2 is something to look at, with age they start to go bad, but won't always trip a light.
For a transmission, I would look into a TKO, if you have the money, behind a 350, and if your going 350, I would imagine, not stock 350, that T-5 won't like you. If you look at summit or jegs, I belive it's the TKO that is a direct t-5 replacement. Should bolt right it.

-1992
-TBI
-No
-I do not believe I even have an o2 sensor and I also cut out the catalytic converter to eliminate problems later on.
-What about a t56? That should be able to handle it

I ordered the ALDL cable from autozone + CTS and I am going to use WINALDL. Hopefully I will find the problem from there because this is really annoying.

This is the fender where I had to grind off the bolt.

How would I go about repairing this mess?

Unless it has been removed, you have an O2 sensor.
It will be in the driverside exhaust shortly after the manifolds.
Why take off the cat, what problems do you think you will have?
If you don't have an O2 and it has not been written out of the tune, then that's probably why it's running rich.

I bought my 89 from a kid that was trying to make it fast, which I will give him props for, he just wasen't going about it the right way.
I put an O2 in mine, because that was one of my check engine light codes.
The one that was in the car, was spliced to a wire, (god only knows what that wire goes to). I was bout the cut the plug off the O2 to splice it, when I saw the plug hanging down. Well the old O2 was just that old. So I kept the new one. Went from rich to lean. Cleaned the IAC and it's fine now.
Still need to hook up the VSS though.

Re: Bodywork + everything else (Pictures + Problems)

I replaced the (Coolant Temperature Sensor) and the (Oxygen Sensor). There was no check engine light in the beginning and there isn't now. It seems to run a little bit better, I think the timing might be off. It is around 1200rpms at idle and it's jumpy, not a consistent idle.

Theres a video, it's hard to see it spraying fuel.

Re: Bodywork + everything else (Pictures + Problems)

Apparently from reading the haynes manual and threads on here and I HAVE to use a timing gun on this car no matter what. Another thing is the wire that was suppose to be disconnected was never done. I stole this picture from a thread since I do not have my stock hood, nor the hood I was gonna put on the car with the same motor as it got ran over.

Re: Bodywork + everything else (Pictures + Problems)

i fixed a 91 bird with the v6 that was running so rich it was puking black smoke and the cat was glowing red. the problem ended up being a bad fuel pressure regulator, somehow the diaphram had developed some pin holes. might be something you could check out.
