Mustang rims on camaro?
Ok first of all I know this is kinda sacrilege but I have a really nice set of 95 mustang cobra rims left over from my mustang. I would like to put them on my 89 camaro. They have a 5x4 1/2 bolt pattern wile the camaro has a 5x4 3/4 bolt pattern.
I know I would have to use spacers anyway, but my question is are there any spacers that would convert a 5x4 1/2 bolt pattern to a 5x4 3/4 bolt pattern?

Re: Mustang rims on camaro?
To each his own but I think that is going to look very bad. the shape of the wheel is so different. The 89 Camaro wheel is more of a concave parabolic shaped wheel where the face of the older Cobra wheels is flat to convex outward.
IMO when you put a wheel on a car that it isn't supposed to have, it looks terrible. wheels are designed to go with the car. Plus, a mustang wheel on a camaro??? I urge you to strongly reconsider... everyone will flame you!

Re: Mustang rims on camaro?
All Fox-chassis Mustangs and Mustang GTs (1979 through 1993) were 4-lug from the factory. I should know because I have owned four of these cars. 1994-up Mustangs are 5-lug. The 5-lug conversion is popular with the Fox Mustang crowd, largely because it gives you a wider choice of custom wheels.
Everyone is going to see those wheels and think "Ford." Cobra rims such as those you have are strongly identified with the Mustang brand. Personally I wouldn't do it, but to each his own.

Re: Mustang rims on camaro?
It's looking like it would cost me to much to put them on the camaro anyway, since spacers would have to be custom made for around $500. not to add I still need to put new tires on all for rims.

You can buy wheels like mine all day online for like 300 a set... not the best shape but better than 500 to mount mustang wheels!

Funny how people on here will put ford injectors in the motor, but oh noes, we cant put ford wheels on our cars.

Really they look like any aftermarket wheel when you take the center cap off. I Guss its just because they were on a mustang.lol
If I am able to put the wheels on I was thinking off painting the car flat black lowering it to fill in the wheel gap, I think that would look mean.
I would prep the camaro myself and take it to maco.

By putting the Cobra rims on your car you will shift the anti matter of the universe. The car will run like hell, the bumpers will fall off and the radio will only pick up Rush Limbaugh. Not only that but your m*llet will fall off, your trailer will turn into a trilevel, and you car reject cider blocks. Also, your girlfriends and your wifes teeth will grow back in, other then that you should have no problems.

Yeah another 4th genner who things they are cooler than everyone else! Plus "on probabtion", not a good way to be...

Mount a tire, take off a wheel from your car, set the 'stang wheel with a tire in the wheel well and see what it looks like. Do this before you buy the adapter. If you don't like it b/c it looks bad, scrap the idea and buy a set of 89 IROC wheels off the net. If you like it then buy the adapter, buy new tires and mount the damn things... either way its your car and you are the one who has to like it. Don't try to convince everyone else to like it too. I think it will look bad, my opinion. As for charged350s wheels... yeah I don't like them either because.... they look like cobra wheels and I am not a fan of aftermarket wheels on 3rd gens... NONE. the only wheels I admit look ok, not better than IROC wheels but good are C6 wheels...

These are the rims my car came with. They look very similar to the cobra r's but don't require any spacers or adapters.

Ok we got it, if you want to mount the damn things then do it and see what it looks like. What is there to lose? Here is an idea...

I am not 100% on this one but I think those are the stock wheels off a late 90s Eclipse with a different center cap. Notice the difference in material/color of the center cap and the wheel. Plus they look exactly like the wheels on my old 98 Eclipse GST I had. The only thing is the Camaro is 5x120 and the Eclipse is 5x114 so that doesn't add up. Maybe they are just a very similar wheel.

Re: Mustang rims on camaro?
I've had a few dsm's in the past and they do have the same lug pattern as the mustangs do, so with some adapters or some miner mods to the rim I can see how they would fit on a camaro also.

Re: Mustang rims on camaro?
I have no idea what they are modelled after but I do believe they are aftermarket because there are no adapters/spacers in there and the bolt pattern is correct for the car. They are also 16x8. I did a quick search and it seems dsm's had 205/55 16 tires which would be a little narrow for a 8" rim but there might have been more tire sizes available.
What I do know is that I don't like them, they are very corroded, and as soon as I can afford it I will be getting C6 wheels. But there is a lot of stuff I have to do before new wheels.
