Front Clip / Bumper
I finally got a parts car and it's being a bitch to take the bumper off... Do I need all the bolts and the absorber guard? When I took the sides of the ground effects off the bolts snapped 2 on each side.

Re: Front Clip / Bumper
I've found it easier to take the headlight bar off with the bumper. But that's just me. IIRC there are a few bolts under the plastic shroud in front of the hood latch.
FWIW: Every time I've tried to take a chin spoiler off, I've broken atleast one of the studs. Most of the time it's two or three that break. I usually make a new stud plate with some threaded rod and some flat stock.

Take the light bar off? Or the stud plate?
The light bar is only a couple of bolts in the center. Once you take them off (allong with the ones in the fenders) the whole nose will pull off.
Stud plate is easy. Get some threaded rod and a piece of flat metal. Tack weld the rod to the flat stock. It usually takes me more time going though my scrap pile to find a good piece of metal, than it does to make it.

Re: Front Clip / Bumper
Can't I just get a piece of metal and drill 3 holes in it than put 3 bolts and nuts? I don't know what kind of metal but wouldn't this work?

Re: Front Clip / Bumper
On the 87 camaro where the ground effects came from on the fender theres 2 bolt holes and on my 92 theres 2 slots. Does that make any difference?

I've never dealt with 91-92 GFX, but have heard they mount differntly. I heard it was the door/rocker pieces that needed some new holes. Maybe someone else can help.

Re: Front Clip / Bumper
Another thing I wanted to know is do I have to use the plastic pieces off the actually metal bumper?

The impact absorber (black honey comb thing)? It seems to me that when I swapped over to the 88 nose on my 83, I had to trim it a little bit. I ended up just taking it off. I'd think the 85+ would be the same, maybe with the exception of Sc's. If you're swapping between simular years, you should be fine.
