Wide body fenders / fender flare kits
Have search the board and all site that use to sell kits.
Post I found here searching most were just folks with stainless steel or rubber stick on flares that no one liked.
Im not talking about that.
I talking about something like in this pic, that open up the rear end.
Of course I need it for a Firebird.

Re: Wide body fenders / fender flare kits
Found em,
http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/firebird8292.html
I can't belive all the parts they got for the Firebird.
Hope I can just get two of these.
Though I wonder about filling the area between the stock fender and them, need a custom well to go alone with it.
If that all don't work out or is to much Ill probably just get new quarter skins and mod as I go.

Re: Wide body fenders / fender flare kits
Before they did redid their site a few months ago, there was a pic of them, but not on a car.
Basically, they just allow more room for a taller drag slick, nothing any wider than stock...Just opens the front & rear edge of the wheel well for tire clearance.

Re: Wide body fenders / fender flare kits
I have "IMSA" fenders on my 84 SE. The lips of the front fenders are extended inboard so that they match up with the original plastic splash shields. The rear fender lips are also extended inboard and match up with the original fender lip.

Any big pics of your car? What size wheels are you running & what backspacing do you have?

Re: Wide body fenders / fender flare kits
I have some pics of the IMSA but the car is far from presentable. It sat under a shed at our chicken farm for nearly 10 years after my father bought it. He finally sold it to me as one of my preconditions before buying his E250 van.
Rats have had their way with the engine compartment wiring and the farm dogs ate some of the fiberglass. The interior is filthy but fairly complete.
According to the agent who sold the car to my dad, the previous owner developed a night club habit, which didn't sit well with his wife. After he drove home in it (for the last time) his wife whacked the windshield and passenger side window, kicked in the passenger door, then made him sell it the next day.
Fortunately, I have two other 3rd gen donor cars for most of the parts except the windshield. I can have one fabricated locally for around $200. I have spotted everything else I need on eBay and other inexpensive sources.
You can tell from my sig that I have a thing for Firebirds. This one is unique in this country and I intend to do justice to it cosmetically and performance-wise.
To partially answer your wheel question, the car came with Kelsey Hayes alloys; 15X8 and 15X7. They are not "enough" for this body style and will end up on the Formuloid. I don't know what rubber the previous owner ran. I suspect the agent took the tires for himself before passing the car on to my dad. It had truck tires out back and rice car tires up front when I got it.
I will probably end up with 15X10's and 295/50's for the back and 15X8's and 245/60's for the front. Those tire sizes have approximately the same sidewall height. The rim widths will produce enough sidewall bulge to give a little protection from curb rash. Backspacing is still to be determined. I want the sidewalls to be about 1 inch inboard of the fender lips. I'll come up with some cross-sectional drawings and post those one of these days.
I would like to go to larger diameter wheels one day but only in order to accommodate larger brakes when those become necessary. That might happen if I ever drop one of my 327's in it so I can make Ferrari noises.
The car is not pretty to look at and I keep it covered when I'm not working on it. This keeps the neighbors happy. If you would like to have pictures of particular parts of the car, let me know and I will post them.
Cheers!
